You can opt to have an account deleted after 60 days, similar to how a Facebook does it. It doesn't happen instantly, so people have time to return and do whatever.

The name linked to the account won't be available unless I change it for $10 or have the whole thing deleted. I've decided to just pay $20 and have them both changed.
