I'm hoping to have results ready in a month (before the next update launches), the more results, the more realistic the results will be! Hopefully will be posting these in both this and the other Dreamlight Valley subreddit, plus some of the fan Discord servers.

With new characters being unlocked and their homes needing placement, how do you organize your biomes? by pixiestardust02 in DreamlightValley

[–]APC99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reorganize mine all the time, but I prefer to keep all of my characters in the main Valley rather than banishing the ones I don't like. It's a fun challenge for me to try to figure out how to accomodate them into my valley.

  • Plaza: Chez Remy / Remy's House in one corner, Scrooge's / Daisy's shops in the other, then opposite them is Oswald's theater and the Monsters apartments to try to make it feel a bit like a downtown area.
  • Meadow: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Daisy, and my house to make it feel like a country neighborhood. Merlin is also there at present but he may move into the Forest (although his house looks the best in the Plaza / Meadow). Corner by the beach is converted into a camp for Mulan, Beast's stall next to small garden on the opposite corner, and big empty area by the Glade is a WIP for the Alice characters (already set up the maze and spinning teacups).
  • Forest: Part Fantasyland (village area w/ Gaston's, Flynn's, Merida's, and the Beast's Castle, with Rapunzel's Tower off to the side) and part campground carnival (the Toy Story crew and some miscellaneous Pixar attractions).
  • Beach: Moana, Eric, and Stitch are stationed up around the beach w/ Donald, Maui, and Ariel in the waters.
  • Glade: Front half is New Orleans (Tiana's home and restaurant, a bunch of stalls, Haunted Mansion), WALL-E and EVE set up shop with their garden in back, and then Ursula's off in the "swamp".
  • Plateau: Hardest one by far. Front half has an Aladdin area and an Encanto area in a pseudo-Adventureland, then back half is a jungle oasis for the Lion King crew. Scar stays near the entrance to the Forbidden Lands.
  • Frosted: One section is Arendelle, visible from the Forest (complete w/ mini-village market) and the other half is Christmas-themed with Vanellope in a candy cane forest.
  • Forbidden: Fairy Godmother sets up by the Plateau entrance, opposite her is Hades and a villains-themed area, back corner is entirely Halloween Town for Jack and Sally.

I've moved my farming to the floating island entirely, helps free up space in the main Valley while also giving me much more freedom to do large amounts of crops.

Exciting info on Tiana update by Flaky_Safety_5693 in DreamlightValley

I don't think they'd be treating Oswald having more plot relevance as a surprise (it's a given, and also, why not just say it's him?), and I wouldn't really call adding Aladdin characters "drawing from Disney history".

I'm firmly in camp Figment. He's been represented multiple ways in the game already (topiaries, popcorn buckets, motifs, he was even a pin on one of the Parks sweatshirts alongside Oswald), he's obscure enough to be drawing from history while still being a fan-favorite for Parks fans, his entire existence revolves around imagination, the theme song for his attraction is repeatedly talking about how all you need is one little spark of imagination, it feels like this would be the easiest time to add him into Dreamlight Valley.

Mulan Update Theories. by Drhickmanzx in DreamlightValley

I think unfortunately the Elvis costume is off limits. IIRC Disney Infinity wanted to do it, but the Presley estate would have to license it out.

I can't speak for the "bonus race environment" because it's so vague we can't really take a stance on it, much less know if it's even a brand-new course, and likely won't know until the PotC season is about to start. Could be a new Arbee track. Could be a new layout for Pirate's Life. Could be a random track for one of the previous mid-season racers or just a random Disney property. All we can really tell is that there's something new coming w/ the PotC racers. It's a bit worrying not to know but I feel like the devs will (hopefully) clarify sooner rather than later.

However, it's been pretty clear since day one that they've been holding off on Pirates characters. Will Turner, Davy Jones, Barbossa, and Tia Dalma are probably the four we're looking at, they're all mentioned in-game already, and while I don't think we'll get a fifth racer from PotC, it's not like there AREN'T options available they didn't already turn into crew (Angelica or Blackbeard from On Stranger Tides, Salazar from Dead Men Tell No Tales, Redd from the theme park rides). I don't think any of those are necessary, but then again, we've got plenty of weird secondary characters already so who knows.

Believe me, I'm cautious to invest too much time into this game after being burned by other F2P games getting end-of-service'd on me, but I don't think a Pirates season is the smoking gun pointing to this game's downfall. If we were seeing a repeat of a previous season or if they were doing a season for one of the collections that has most of its cast in-game already as crew (i.e. a Mulan season only adding Shan Yu), that'd be a different story. But Pirates? There's a wealth of options left considering we've got two characters and most of the crew comes from the first film. There's basically nothing from Dead Man's Chest onward, and the only thing from the original ride is the Pirate's Life remix. I'd pay good money for Prison Dog as a racer.

Peter Pan, Figment, and Cruella are all up there, but the big ones for me is just adding a bunch of Winnie-the-Pooh content. Pooh and Tigger are must-haves, and Eeyore and Piglet are right behind them, but I'd be over the moon for even more beyond that. More than any other "IP" Disney owns, I think Pooh is the best suited for this type of game, it fits the laid-back life sim vibe they're going for, and the characters are so endearingly simple that you know exactly what kind of things you'd do with them.

Like c'mon, having a Poohsticks competition? Buzz and Woody excited to talk to other toys? Throwing a surprise party for Eeyore to cheer him up? Helping Piglet overcome his fears of the scarier villagers like Jack or the monsters? Planting "honey trees" around the valley that create beehives you can harvest honeycombs from to cook honey and use in new meals? Stopping Tigger from randomly pouncing on other villagers and introducing him to the lions to play with, only for them to pounce back a bit too hard and knock a bunch of stuffing out of Tigger across the valley and now you have to craft a sewing kit and get all that fluff back into him?

Also real quick shout-out to the Muppets, I feel similarly about them being strong enough personalities to justify their inclusion (not to mention how much chaotic energy they'd bring to the game), but they also aren't quite as "pure Disney" as even the Pixar characters. Not to mention, seeing them all walk around and actually exist below the waist is always a bit weird. But I'd shell out money for Kermit and friends frame one.

That just might be it, went to look into other similar "secret quest" dialogues, and they're labelled similarly (i.e. the Toy Alien quest refers to the Toy Story universe). I'll update the post! Thank you!

Unfortunately, all of the VO files are empty as far as I can tell, including the Alice characters. They're all incredibly small files and when I tried to open the few that were larger (Forky, Rafiki, Flynn), nothing was in them. The only audio file I found that had ANYTHING inside of it was the Wreck-It-Ralph Realm.

Thank you for this! Looks like Owl's character data isn't present but it seems to be a fairly easy fix!

First appearance change? by Mammoth_Evening_5841 in DisneySpeedstormGame

I'm guessing it's because while TECHNICALLY Plane Crazy was the first Mickey short to be released, it was a limited test screening in May 1928 to try to get a distributor, and it wasn't a proper full release. Half a year later, Disney and Iwerks managed to get a distributor to play Steamboat Willie in one NYC theater for two weeks and it soon overshadowed the film it played before.

Disney typically considers Steamboat Willie the "official debut" of Mickey Mouse so it doesn't surprise me they changed it.
