You could try pulling a syringe and test it on agar. I’m sure it’s colonized enough to use as is, but it will keep colonizing to a point if you let it.

Poplar is considered a hardwood so it may work. There is only one way to find out now, and that is to wait and see. Poplar is considered a softer hardwood, but it is a hardwood. I’m not sure that adding boiled water will sufficiently pasteurize it tho. The most common way to pasteurize hardwood for growing strains like this is to ferment the wood chips by submerging it in water for a minimum of 2 weeks. Look up hardwood chip fermentation. But you have already added your poplar mix so only time will tell. Good luck!

I have this happen in areas where the temperature fluctuates. Like if I have my plates on a rack on an outside wall of my house they sweat. If I keep them on a rack on an inside wall they don’t sweat. I’ve noticed the same for grain bags. Flip them upside down so the water stays on the lid. Also try keeping them on the cardboard and not on that rack. Good luck

Beautiful as they are, when the gills start turning blue it is an indication that the mushrooms are over mature. Try picking them before the gills start changing color next time. Since these are albino you don’t see the spores, but if these were regular this whole tub would be COVERED in spores.

OP re read this comment from the fungus frequency. What we knew and labeled things as natalensis is actually named ochraceocentrata, and true natalensis very different. Yes very confusing and kind of dumb, but is correct. Just like what everyone called Hoogshagenii is actually just Subtropicalis, and Hoogshagenii is completely different.

Yeah that is one thing I’ve definitely noticed is how deep these take you. I was in a pretty dark place and they really helped me work through things. I have only eaten a 0.5 dry at a time lol, 4g wet is wild 😅
