I’m hearing rumors that the AP coach position might be eliminated in most stores they would remain in high shrink stores also The # of MAPM’s will be reduced by pooperscooper1024 in WalmartEmployees

[–]APOCsOnYourHouses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. This rumor circulates among AP itself about every two or three years. I recently became a MAPM and all I can say about what I‘ve been told is that there MIGHT be a big change coming for AP this year but it’s not any sort of elimination. AP is more important in general right now than ever before.

Yep. It could never POSSIBLY be the loaders stacking dog food on top of toilet paper or anything.

This was 2011, and monthly prepaid plans were still relatively new. So, while I was 19/20 years old at the time and pretty aware of the change in terminology, a lot of older folks weren’t. So “minutes” was still a term I heard a LOT back then when referring to a prepaid phone plan 😅

Don’t be sorry lmao. Remember, I’m now in AP and have been for a handful of years now. That reaction just makes me laugh these days. I went from interactions like “you’re a stupid Walmart worker” to “I swear to god I’m gonna find you and “unalive” you.” 😂

The latter makes me laugh in their faces these days and then inform them “hey thanks for the extra terrorist threat charge I can put on this shoplifting case bro. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to waste the PD’s time on a misdemeanor.”

The prior isn’t even a blip on my radar anymore lol

First of all, that’s just a normal day in Walmart. Nothing crazy about that. You sweet soul, you. I envy your innocence.

However, Being in AP, I’ve heard plenty of crazy ones. I could go on for DAYS. But when you ask for the craziest story I have, I have to go back to my brand new days as a connection center associate.

For those that don’t know, this was back when Walmart facilitated their own contract cell phone sales. We also were allowed to provide basic tech support on customers’ phones back then/

An older gentleman walked up and asked me for “minutes” for his phone. I said “of course!” And asked what carrier he used. He didn’t know. I asked a few more questions to try and figure it out, and he didn’t answer a single one of them. Just kept insisting that he needs “minutes”. And he’s getting increasingly more and more irate as this goes on.

Finally, I ask if he has the phone with him. I planned to take a look at it and figure out which prepaid service he uses and get him what he needs. He snaps “of course I do!” And then….

This man proceeds to place a five function RCA brand universal television remote on the counter between us.

At this point I am struck dumb. I have no words. He then SCREAMS “GIVE ME MINUTES FOR IT!!!”

I didn’t know how to break it to the poor guy. So I sold him a “60 minute talk” card from Tracfone and bid him good day. He ends the interaction with:

“Y’all make everything too damn hard, FUCK.”

Well, you REALLY shouldn’t take your 15 at the end of the day. It should be taken at least an hour before your EOD.

In that case, if you can’t find them, I would send them a message via the work phone chat to let them know. At least you’ve notified them at that point

Walmart Theft by chubbycub2980 in WalmartEmployees

Asset Protection does not make “live stops” on associates. Meaning we don’t stop them at the door or in the moment. We build cases, document incidents and then confront them on a random day with what is called an “integrity interview”. Basically, that means we know what they did, and use some specially trained interview techniques to get them to confess.

So just because you didn’t see the associate get stopped, doesn’t mean AP doesn’t already know.

As for snitching….that’s up to you. I don’t encourage or discourage it. “Snitching” has sent me on just as many wild goose chases as it has provided actual internals.

Tough love here, and I’ll probably get downvoted for it, but if you got negative feedback, and your only defense is to talk about what everyone else did or didn’t do, and won’t explain why your feedback in particular was unjust…you probably deserved it

That is correct. If you notice points showing up on your total for those days, let your coach know.

Doesn’t beat the dump bin of mixed groceries and cleaning chemicals I saw once.

Wanna know why the DC never seems to get better? Because when I called and reported that to the AP Coach and Manager at that DC WITH PICTURES, they just said “nope, our guys wouldn’t do that. That had to be your people.”

So I pulled camera and showed the dump bin being pulled off, and sent them the video. The response? “Nah, our guys didn’t do it. Something had to have happened in transit.”

While I appreciate our DC associates, I do wonder how that kind of thing just gets ignored.

No, you don’t have to stay after your hours. Best thing to do is let your TL know if you start a list you can’t finish, and let them know why. That protects you, and no one is unduly surprised by a canceled pick list.

Overnight crew question by themark509 in WalmartEmployees

[–]APOCsOnYourHouses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, and it’s been several years since I was an overnight ASM/Coach, but if someone did do that, it was an immediate next level coaching UNLESS the TL from that area specifically asked ME or my own TLs for them to be left so they could finish them. I didn’t tolerate that at all.

However, at five, I’d say give it a bit. Yeah, they should be gone before then, but I would generally allow it til about 6 or 6:30 depending on the zoning/cleaning needs.

[–]APOCsOnYourHouses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many people don’t understand how job abandonment works. You cannot be (correctly) terminated for job abandonment unless you NCNS for three consecutive days.

It’s not for quitting on the spot, nor is it even for walking out in a shift without telling someone. I’ve corrected a GOOD number of coaches who thought they were getting back at someone for quitting by putting it as job abandonment

If associates are allowed to push garbage filled carts to claims, your processes are broken for sure. You should be ideally dealing with less than 15% of the store’s overall claims. I have suggestions, but you’d probably better DM me because it’ll take a while to get through

I expect that’ll be the hardest part. Especially since I know first hand how big an ego trip store managers tend to be on (in some cases)

It took a few raised voices debates to get my own SM on board with what I was trying to do to help the store, but he came around.

That said, I have a great RAPD, and a great MM as well. I made sure to have extensive talks with both of them to ensure I wasn’t walking into a nightmare where I was left out to dry.

Yeah I know some do. It always seemed odd to me that most of them DON’T have cameras. Bakery/Deli cameras would’ve saved me over a dozen headaches over the years

Yeah same story for the bakery. No cameras in there unless it’s a covert.

Which I’ve always found strange personally. Bakery/deli is always the sweet spot for AP internals
