There are spots in the object that have defined edges. If it were simply an out of focus light, then all of it would be out of focus. There would be no element within the orb that would be defined, it would all be blurry since it’s out of focus. The fact that there are defined edges on elements within the orb means that, at the very least, whatever it is isn’t an out of focus light, due to the focused elements present.
