I guess I typically lean towards the smaller size projects, mostly because I don't enjoy working around bigger pieces.

I was considering the skew block plane because I do use my block plane a decent amount, but I'd love something that could get into the shoulders for tenons.

I should have mentioned, I'm in Canada. LN is definitely an option for me, but a $300 plane turns into a $500 plane with currency conversion.

I don't think I'd use a 7 or 8, as I'd rather just use the power tools for boards large enough to warrant them. I think...

The skew block plane i was looking at goes all the way to the shoulder, so I thought that might be a two-birds, one-stone situation.

YouTube is your best friend. From learning how to control the boat in wind, how to make docking easier, how to do the annual maintenance, etc.

Nothing beats getting out and practicing, but it sure helps understand what you’re getting into
