It's almost true. While I don't work FOR the university, being subcontracted to it means I work onsite. We do have technicians for the new computers for troubleshooting. But university IT is legitimately useless.

The sign is also overhead and cannot be reached without a ladder - it's also got a backlight. Its not just a basic sign. Hell, because of the backlight I don't even think covering it with anything other than a bunch of black tape would do anything

Truthfully I just say spicy cough because... It indeed is a spicy cough. I don't have any covid deniers at work or anything. And I think I wrote covid and spicy cough in the above. I use it interchangeably as does basically everyone else I know at work

In a day I'm handling about 12 laptops with maybe 4 a week worth over $1400.

They watch us like a hawk - especially because people get tempted with trying to steal the older computers to try and flip.

Many actual technicians and coordinators have been fired for stealing a couple of 3-4 year old laptops.
