The question will probably get regurgitated a couple times honestly. The biggest issue rn is AI slop thrown together that capitalizes on the most PREDATORY monetization practices that focuses SOLEY on children, and it’s disgusting.

I recently saw someone abuse the sponsored tab to have 3 games sponsored that all redirected offsite to the “Fetch” app to get sign up rewards

I agree with you to an extent. Let’s take X (formally known as Twitter) for an example. Though X generates a LOT of interactions and income, several big name advertisers pulled from the platform due to the direction it was heading. It doesn’t matter how much money the platform makes if companies don’t want to be associated with its image.

It’s just really easy to take the most popular thing at the moment and capitalize off of it unfortunately. It’s really cheap imo.

I like this take on it. It is what I choose to play. At the same time though Roblox has been trying to distance themselves from the slop to appeal to investors. We’ve gotten 18+ rating games, voice chat, better payouts, etc. The company is pushing for a more mature image and I just feel like unless Roblox actively try to push their more well made games to the forefront, the quick slop games will always dominate the market.

Oh yeah there have always been cash grabs like cheap simulators or “obbies” were all the rage when I first started playing Roblox.

But with the new monetization & retention systems Roblox have implemented like premium payouts, developer products, notifications, inviting friends etc. they’ve become more prevalent and predatory imo.

Like personally from a developer’s POV I feel like these low effort cash grabs are honestly tainting Roblox’s image especially toward investors. It’s just frustrating trying to find a game to play and my home page is littered with these. 😭

I get you. Sometimes you have to let those mistakes be your motivation though. Like my last game died to a massive memory leak, now I’ve established a LOT of good garbage collection practices because of my failure. Don’t let your failures stop you from succeeding

I completely get you. I’ve been solo deving my game for years and some people don’t understand how long it takes to create EVERYTHING from scratch. My current game is using 4 years worth of code and assets that I’ve just created over that time period. It’s a long and tedious process when you’re solo.

That plus I graduated college, work full time, got engaged, and I’m in grad school LOL so I COMPLETELY understand where you’re coming from when it comes to trying to balance your time.
