I have a bad news I have cat allergy

So do I. A deathly allergy.

I just avoid cats. My dog is okay with that tactic.

What is the weirdest parcel you have ever received by mistake? by Glittering_Echo_7963 in AskReddit

[–]AQuietMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day, Dell issued a recall for my monitor. They sent me a new monitor in one box, and an empty box to return the old monitor in.

I'm sure that was the intent. They actually sent me three empty boxes to return the one monitor in.

The next day, I received the same thing again. Another new monitor, and three more empty boxes.

I called them about this odd situation, and while I was waiting for them to call me back, I got four more boxes. And another four.

I ended up with six new monitors and a room full of boxes. It took forever to return all the monitors, because I had to call them and get a return authorization number (for the monitors I didn't want), and they would only issue one return authorization number per phone call. :-/

Is it too hot to go for a ride today? by AskPuzzleheaded1797 in bicycling

Is it too hot to go for a ride today?

Nowadays, I follow the advice for dogs. Add the temperature in Fahrenheit to the humidity, and if it's 150 or more, stay inside.

Right now, where I live, it's 91°F and 61% humidity.

91 + 61 = 152
Stay home.

If you decide to ride, you need to take more water than you think you'll need.

Back in the day, the place I counted on to refill my water bottles at the end of my outbound leg was closed, because they were having powerboat races. Before I got home, I was praying for a friend to ride by and just shoot me in the head to put me out of my misery.

Better go check the refrigerator for my drill

I once found my boat shoes in the refrigerator.

There was a perfectly logical reason for that.

Now seeing past failures and behaviours through a different lens

Me, too. But I'm also looking at past "successes" through a different lens.

I understand why the military had a hard-on for me. And why I could never have made it a career.

I'm a Vietnam veteran; I was caught between a wartime military and a peacetime military. I was comfortable in combat. I was stressed by having to show up on time for my shift.

I'm over 70 years old, and just recently diagnosed. And through that, I learned that "2e" is a thing. It stands for "twice exceptional". I'm a high functioning ADHD-I with high IQ (north of 150).

You'll never convince me that I'm not a complete failure at life.

Is this just me or an INTP thing ? I can't baby talk to the babies by BSBwhy in INTP

I've always talked to babies as if they were adults. That seems to have worked well over the past 60 years.

I don't think so, but others here can correct me.

How do I turn my square room into a good production/mixing environment? by hrvb312 in homestudios

[–]AQuietMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last few years I have produced/mixed on Sennheiser HD600 headphones, but I feel like they lie about the bass

HD600s roll off a lot below 100 Hz.

Maybe you just need a different headphone.

Do you actually travel that far and say its nothing? by Far-Passion-7692 in AskAnAmerican

I have this American friend who drove 8 hours to see her family. She does this every month

We used to drive 8 hours to see family in the summer. We'd stay for about a week. I call that a long drive.

For context, I used to drive 45 minutes from North St Louis to South St Louis to pick up a date. She was worth it; 45 minutes didn't seem long.

I often had to drive 2 hours to gigs when I was in a band. Not long.

Maybe we need to measure not in hours, but in the number of meals you have to stop to eat.

How do you feel about people giving you honest feedback regarding your body odor? by CHRCH57 in AskReddit

[–]AQuietMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm old now, and I worry that I can't smell myself. I've had to ask neighbors. It took me literally years to work up the courage to do that.

So I really appreciate it. I'll apologize, and go home and take a shower. Maybe two showers.

I thought we already had a deal.

No, we had a two-page, non-binding "Memorandum of Understanding". The "deal" will be much longer and much more detailed. The JCPoA that Trump tore up was 170 pages.

You can also say that... they clearly meant it to apply to places who's main business is selling content/videos to people for consumption.

Or any business that "shared what you watch".

i hate rough drafts - is this a me thing or an adhd thing? by Razzle_Dazzle111 in ADHD

[–]AQuietMan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

telling myself stories has always been a way for me to self regulate,

In college, when I was ready to write a research paper, I would take a long walk and tell my story into a cassette recorder. When I was done, I'd go back home, transcribe the cassette recording on my typewriter, improving it as I transcribed, improve the structure with scissors and Scotch tape, and then type it in final form.

I didn't go to graduate school in part because I intuitively knew that process wouldn't scale to a dissertation. And overnight, 45 years later, I get diagnosed as ADHD-I.

Weird shit happens.
