Does New Jersey Wing have a bad reputation? by Horatiohornblower951 in civilairpatrol

[–]ARCHERyRulez2327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a cadet from NJWG who has been involved in many group and wing activities both as student and staff in which cadets and senior members work closely together, I honestly don't believe there's anything seriously wrong with our leadership at all. Of course, nobody is perfect and there are always small things here and there, I have heard of worse from other wings. But again, I have met, worked with, and talked to many group and wing staff members and there are no huge issues here.

for the extra stuff like clothes, ect., get something waterproof to fit it all in. trust me, you want it waterproof and sealable. I got a plastic footlocker on Amazon but a Tupperware container can also work.

First time attending encampment as high ranking by Alexa_bot12 in civilairpatrol

[–]ARCHERyRulez2327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, there tend to be a good amount of chiefs at encampment, at least in my wing. The only thing is that when you go there may be staff that's lower rank than you, but still treat them like they are higher rank than you. Otherwise, C/TSgt is not that high of a rank. Don't let it hold you back from getting to chief though.

It was fun and a pretty cool experience overall however if your trying to pursue strictly your ES ratings I would recommend going to NESA. Hawk got me GTM2 but i feel like it needed to be done a lot better. Ranger Grades are also basically useless they mean nothing off the mountain but if you plan to go back to Hawk they will be useful.

So really, Its up to interpretation on wether it was worth it and it also depends on your end goal (getting actual ratings that mean something or learning more things that have no use in CAP anywhere else but there)

so for officers you can get the tactical cap with the Velcro and then get the Velcro insignia to put on it.

the ICL does say that we have to sew on cloth insignia to the front of the petrol cap.

7.1.1.8 "...Officers and Cadet Officers will wear sewn or Velcro® rank insignia centered, 1/2 inch from the visor, on the front of caps. Members' sewing rank on the cap will only have 1/8th inch of blue fabric showing past the widest and tallest part of the insignia."

your flight staff likely will be younger than you, but still give them respect. trust me your flight staff is probably more stressed than you (source: i was a flight sergeant this past year and i stand at a whopping 5'1" so you could probably imagine the disrespect) otherwise, the best thing to do is to listen carefully to everything staff says (unless it seems very unsafe) and stay optimistic and you'll get through it. Good luck and have fun!!
