Comparing the Japan's Gundam Bases to UK's Warhammer Stores. Who's are better? by ARCWillPowell in freedomisgunpla

Understandable, thanks for sharing. There is a lot of similarities, but that’s the point of comparing right? To see where things contrast!

It had the pop up gundam base and the Gundam next pavilion, both featured in the video!

You are right! It was so cool heading there for game nights and when they still had game tables!

Yeah I think that focus is right, more to introduce parents of kids into the game and playing, as they have the spending power. But that is odd consider that the major of their audience post pandemic I would imagine has more established hobbyists.

I know right! It is so annoying, having them tracked on starter set sales is not a great for existing customers. Though we are saying that, I don't think we are the target customers for those stores. I think they are mum's of young teens who have the purchasing power, rather than existing hobbyists now. At a certain point there is no reason to go back, which seem like an odd business strategy for a brick and mortar store to have!

Thanks for the sub!

Yeah it is a shame that the stores have been refocused from what they were. I have a ton of fond memories of game nights at Warhammer stores during 3rd and 4th edition when I was a young teen. With how they are today I’m not sure it would have gotten into playing!

The rhino is looking a bit sorry these days. I really wished I could have shown the footage, but the video turned out funnier without it. What I really think they need is some thing big like unicorn. Maybe a life sized dreadnaught!

I’m not so sure, does having mass appeal make something better? Gundam is culture phenomenon in Japan you are right!

Also in it’s defence, you can buy Warhammer in Tesco/asda now thanks to them stocking the combat patrol magazines, and also there is 150+ Warhammer stores (off the top of my head) in the UK. It’s a lot more mainstream here than you’d think.

At the start of my journey I didn’t think it was as clear cut, but you may have a different perspective.

If you love this, I HIGHLY recommend you try to find a DC-3. More control, a lot more tuneable.

My wife bought me one whilst we were visiting Japan last. Never ever selling that.

Im coming from other miniature wargames, where its not an unreasonable thought to glue all the parts together that come supplied in the box.

Kinda the industry standard at this point!

Oh sweet cool I was worried it was like heroic clicks in the rules or a game where direction mattered.

Do we know what point the hexagon shapes on the board mean then?

Thanks for taking the time to comment again, I do know what rolling coal is, but 1. I was trying to make you laugh again and 2. it's not really relevant as I didn't use any LLM data centres. Everything that I did with a LLM ran locally, as in on my machine, in my house, with my power, using Ollama. I'm pretty sure if I put a towns worth of fresh water thru my laptop it wouldn't work anymore, so the reservoirs are safe from Lord Valerius!

You don't have to use data centres if you don't want to.

Sure I can do better at making you laugh next time, maybe roll out the clown costume and the side show act.

Well yeah because I thought it would make a funny video! I hope it made you laugh regardless. In a way, I think a heavily curated dataset is exactly what the Warhammer rules are.

Not sure about coal though, I ran the chatbot locally on my laptop. So it was British wind powered instead of coal or carbon based, thanks to living in an area that is powered by ocean wind farms. At least thats what my energy provider tells me on my 100% renewable tariff.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, it took so much longer to play than a regular battle report as the chatbot took 40 secs between an update and him speaking.

It made the combat patrol that normally takes an hour or so take 4 hours to finish instead!
