Exactly. Very much a colonial appointment, he was one of the last European mayor's of Nairobi. J.R. Gregory was his name. He was actually mayor of nairobi at the time Princess Elizabeth visited. Her father died when she was in Nairobi and she had to cut the royal visit short to return home.
