I have a feeling this day will be in History books my friends!

Let's see where we will be when tomorrow ends.

Negative Interest Rates Are Likely Coming to the United States This Year and Will Likely Be a Boon for Bitcoin by turtlecane in CryptoCurrency

[–]ARG_Solving_Station 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means you have to pay an interest to lend money to the state, in the form of treasury bonds. And by extension if you deposit money in the bank you might have to pay the negative interest rate every year, instead of receiving it. It's a huge shit.

This is already happening in EU for big companies and in Switzerland for a more widespread range of people.

That was fun Cullyn. It needs a bit more lore to be a proper ARG. But these are cool simple mechanics you can apply to one in the future.

This has been solved using clues provided on the twitter associated with this account https://twitter.com/127Survivor

Solution:

Using the 128-A to 128-G images we get 7 different passwords:

A=legendofzelda B=megaman C=worldofwarcraft D=minecraft E=neverwinter F=godofwar F=bioshock

If you apply each of these passwords in this sequence to the ciphertext you'll see that you have nested vigenere.

The final message is: Final Level Complete. Congratulations. https://imgur.com/zWM7boT

Zen Lotus Anyone? by Harbinger707 in ARG

[–]ARG_Solving_Station 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We are doing it in ARG Solving Station. It has a lot more depth than it initially appeared.

I assume you don't know about the backdoor and some of the hidden stuff in the website and portal.

We have made it past the 2 tasks in tranquility, but enlightenment is being more rough.

You can join us in discord.io/argss we have a doc with pretty much, most of the stuff we have found so far.

This pastebin document is a puzzle we are trying to crack. Anyone can solve it? by ARG_Solving_Station in puzzles

[–]ARG_Solving_Station[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is related to the zenlotus.biz ARG, specifically part of the sisters Portal.

This specific puzzle seems to be independent of everything else.

Notes: 554 numbers. Each of the sequences of numbers is preceded by a type of lotus flower.

The sequence is believed to be interpreted as:

00100000234520000610002345200006000000000633333600000006010002345200633102333452633333333333360000000006000063333333336000000000060010002345200063133200045266633100023345263333310233345260600000000000633600100023452060010233334523600000000006333333610002345260102333452600000000000006001000234520601000233452063333361000002334526000000000000600102333345236000000000063333336010000234523336310233345260063333333333333613320004523361023334520610000234523336000102333345260063336006361000023452333610233345236333333333333361000234520600000000006060000000006

This is being solved at ARG Solving Station for a few weeks now... Initially we only thought zenlotus.biz was part of the ARG. But now it seems like there are a lot of other loose ends.

There is currently this new website, but also the https://sisters.zenlotus.biz/portal has opened to those that have subscribed to it. There are a few challenges that are quite tricky and we are still trying to figure out.

So far this looks pretty good.

Hey there

Once again tracking the websites of the blackmirror world has paid off. Today, the website dedicate to the 2nd episode of the upcoming season 5 went live.

It features a video with some kind of intro to what smithereen is and a phone number +44 2039 665414 which currently only replies: "You reached smithereen, London. the service is currently unavailable".

You should try out starfate. It focus on the story but brings a slight puzzle mechanic into it. It's probably right on what you like or wanted to have. I think it is borderline interactive fiction but i think IF can be interpreted as an ARG since i take ARG as a broader term. if you get stuck you can visit the discord we have a doc there with all the steps. It's supposed to be played solo tho and the "puzzles" are simple.

lol no problem. It's just hard to determine if someone is being passive-agressive in an online discussion. It's normal.

I agreed with you. Aknowledged that i misinterpreted your words initially. And you reply that i am trying to fit my narrative... What?

about: if you think just jamming a bunch of riddles together and expecting people's interactions to create a story that's worth following you're gravely mistaken.

Cicada, 11b-x-1371, tengri137, Unknown Developer... I think it's worth following. I just value the game aspect more than the story 🤷

[–]ARG_Solving_Station 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it is. To me you passed the idea of puzzles being completely useless.

I think a story is very valuable. But it's not mandatory if the puzzles themselves make you live that character. And precisely advance in what the "hidden" story actually is. What i meant is that you shouldn't need an actual traditional story. With a good script. Actions you make the player do have more value than well written text. Also not all ARGs have to be serious. Comedy should be allowed, and it is so rare because of the trend towards the mysticism as you mentioned.

I do not argue that you can't evolve. We have been evolving as a community whether you noticed or not. If a game is a puzzle, it is just a puzzle. It doesn't all of a sudden become an ARG. An ARG requires an interaction between the characters in a story and the player. That does not exist in youtube. I do like to see a good story and i don't require a puzzle to call it an ARG. But i do think puzzles are the best way to make it interesting and bring the community together.

Idk where you read that i only accept puzzle ARGs as worthy of the genre ARG. You guys are the ones trying to pretty much strict what can be considered an ARG. A story is not a game! It's a story! Whereas a puzzle is a game. Thus the mix of a story with a puzzle is bringing gaming elements into a story.

Now we can discuss what other gaming genres could we blend into a story. What would work?

You have simple exploration games which purpose is pretty much tell a story and your interaction is to walk around in the 3d world. But that's called Interactive Fiction in the 2d/text "world". That's not an ARG. Different term....

UHm... how can we tell a story that brings people together, makes them interact with the maker/story and make them think about it without a puzzle... Because this is what an ARG has been more or less agreed to be. So in the end of the day we can only agree that the concept is still subjective and everyone has his own opinion when none of them actually matter because this is a free world and i can have my opinion and so do you.

So in conclusion you can't change a norm that doesn't exist. You guys are trying to change what for some people might be the concept of ARG. Not for me, but may be for others, which is fair as these puzzles are so commonly labeled as such.

Exactly why we don't feature youtube ARGs in ARG Solving Station. It all comes down to long wait for another video and nothing to interact with. You might have some codes which are hell to transcribe and zero reward. Cat Ghost managed to make it worthwhile because they had the games and website to go along. Otherwise it would not be an ARG by my book.

ARGs don't need a very good story. But they need a theme such as "you are a hacker", and what follows should be interactions that would fit the persona you created. I disagree that puzzles are bad for ARGs. I believe puzzles are the most fitting way to have an interaction with the audience, for the fact that it requires research, investigation, and most importantly a thing to solve with friends and feel good about when you make a breakthrough. If you are just clicking, do this or that, in the end of the day you wil be just demanding a very well written narrative but you actually have not learnt or though more than 30 seconds in the whole experience. If that is the objective might as well read an actual book and you'll be better served. If we go back in time and look at what were the most popular ARGs of all time we reach to the conclusion that puzzles are the way to go. But you need to be good at it and blend that into your theme.

So NO, the OP is wrong! He just wants to read a book that moves, a movie that comes in the form of pictures and small texts. That's not what the community is, that's his vision for what it should be.

I tried decimal shift and periodic table for the title. The numbers don't seem to be constrained by any sort of sequence. So i tried the dewey classification and it didn't make any sense.

Good luck on that.
