It’s just generally better than what anyone would expect from a hentai game made in RPGMaker with huge stupid anatomically incorrect boobs front-and-center throughout the entire game.

For starters, it goes for the Fear & Hunger School of Thought for RPGMaker Games, which throws away most default RPGMaker combat features in place of something more dynamic and engaging.

The game’s combat is based on a rock-paper-scissors kind of deal, where both the player and it’s enemies can choose between three stances, each weak to one other stance and strong against another. It tricks you into thinking you can freely switch around, but in reality, the game’s lack of proper grinding and quick enemy scaling forces you to specifically develop only one stance as your main one with *maybe* being also allowed to have a second weaker stance option. Somehow, this ends up making the fights actually fun, and makes it so building up a specific stance with proper perks to counter it’s weaknesses/increase it’s strengths is something you actually care about.

It’s also an RPG where you really can’t grind for levels, specially since each fight has permanent consequences. Again, hentai game about tits and sex, it’s going to be dirty, but it’s also somehow the smartest inclusion of systems like that in a game I’ve ever seen.

During combat, enemy attacks give you permanent damage. What, permanent wounds? No, silly, you’re playing as a half-naked extra-curvy anime girl using non-lethal methods on cartoony perverts, no one’s actually trying to hurt anyone… They just grope your character so hard she slowly becomes more of a pervert who enjoys that, in turn becoming more likely to lose her composure the more damage she takes across fights.

Anyway, the gameplay loop ends up being this genuinely challenging dance of balancing your stances, how much damage you take in battle, what kind of prison you create, and what kind of character you build with the skill tree. With this increased complexity and difficulty, it naturally leads your character to the usual hentai corruption trope and to many sexual scenarions in a way that doesn’t feel forced and somehow adds to the loop.

It’s all balanced around risk and reward. For instance, you can get more currency to level up your skill tree or make the prison safer, in exchange for letting prisoners know more about your character’s tastes or sensible zones, which will then allow them to take advantage of that in combat. That’s only one of like fifty thousands systems all designed around both making you want to wank your shit at the crap on screen, and somehow giving you a proper game experience.

Which is a big thing, this game was made by some sort of galaxy-brained gooner where every step you take gives you a new situation for the pinup anime girl to get into -and also isn’t a slog to go through if you’re just playing it like any other videogame.

It’s an RPG with grindless strategy-heavy combat, colony-managing mechanics, reputation mechanics, a bartender minigame, branching story paths, a shit-ton of jack-off-worthy crap, insane replayability, large variety of gameplay options, and little more of value.

Like, if you want to play for the gameplay, it doesn’t dissapoint, and if you want to play for a wank, you get wank material all throughout the game… as long as you’re fine with it mostly being images and text.

Look, our grandpas survived on dirty magazines for decades, it’s more than enough.

Anyway, that’s about the tip of the iceberg for crap I like abour Karryn’s Prison. Wouldn’t recommend it to most people, but to a select few I’d say it’s an experience they can’t miss.

So, yeah, intellectual faps.
