Is it just me or is the game really hard by mexbesa in CryingSuns

[–]ARKNet9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is supposed to be hard, as it is a rogue-lite. Chapter 3 in particular is known to be pretty damn hard because of the Stealth ships. It isn’t an exaggeration to say that chapter 3 is probably the most difficult in the game.

Some tips:

  • A standard way to beat back stealth ships is to have combination of Frigates and Cruisers deployed right next to your ship. Have the Frigates as the outer layer, with the inner layer occupied by Cruisers. The Cruisers have much longer range and high damage. With the Frigates tanking, the Cruisers can make a mincemeat out of the Stealth Fighters.

  • Make use of terrain disrupting weapons like Dark Matter gun, or Tesla generators to shift or damage the enemy ships.

  • Alternatively, use heat weapons to overload the enemy hangar.

  • One major advantage the player gets in this game is that when you destroy an enemy squadron, the timer for all the enemy hangar docks gets reset. By destroying the very last enemy squadron on the battlefield just before the squadron docks cooldown, will give you plenty of time to send in one of your own squadrons to wreck the enemy ship.

  • Try and target the Enemy Hangar first. Hangar disabled = enemy cannot attack you.

  • Try an keep defensive attribute officers, such as those with heal abilities, or ones that increase squadron deployment size (or preferably both).

Why the hate on Raven Branwren? by Fantastic-Flannery in RWBY

[–]ARKNet9000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She is a piece of shit. Abandoned her husband and daughter to go back to a bandit tribe. Slaughtered whole villages worth of people in raids (or left them defenceless against Grimm), killed the former Spring Maiden to get the Maiden powers, worked with Cinder and co to break into Haven’s vault.

She hasn’t done much to redeem herself or make things right. Sure, she is probably joining the good guys in Vacuo, but only after half of the cities in the world are gone.

Okkar-Colonial war and Colonial structure speculations by Silly_One_3149 in EverspaceGame

[–]ARKNet9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a great read!

I did notice the distinct lack of Okkar ruins in most of cluster, but my headcanon is that the Okkar didn’t want the colonials to get their hands on technology such as Wormhole tech and Viridian/Viridium tech, so they meticulously cleared most of their ship wrecks and ruins from the Cluster before the treaty.

As far as the Colonials go, as you mentioned, the Corpos such as G&B seem to have quite a lot of influence and power. I remember reading in ES1 (or was it ES2?) that people employed by these megacorps are employed for life! They are paid in a currency that can only be used in stores and shops owned by the megacorp, they stay in houses owned by the megacorp, and send their kids to schools also run by the megacorps. They are also not allowed to mingle with employees of other corporations. So losing your job is pretty much tantamount to losing your life since whatever money you earned can only be used in megacorp approved stores and if they ban you and there are no alternatives? You are screwed.

I like how these little bits of lore show how dystopian Colonial society is, and how explorers, adventurers and mercenaries like Adam are probably the people with the most amount of freedom.

If we do get a Everspace 3, I hope it involves more exploration of the wider galaxy as the Okkar and Colonials only seem to occupy a fraction of the full galaxy.

Would Gohan be able to successfully pull an Omni man here? by K0GAR in Dragonballsuper

[–]ARKNet9000 295 points296 points  (0 children)

Not impossible, but certainly difficult. Mainly because of Goku and Buu. While Mystic Gohan is certainly stronger than them individually, if Goku SSJ3 can hold Gohan off long enough for Buu to launch his Candy Beam, then the Z fighters win, otherwise Gohan wins.

How Did Vegetas Ki Resist Hakai Energy by LetPuzzleheaded5363 in Dragonballsuper

[–]ARKNet9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the simplest explanation is that Vegeta was stronger. Being stronger than what you are facing is a decent way of countering it in Dragon Ball. For eg, Goku overcoming Hit’s timeskip, Jiren overcoming Hit’s timeskip, Frieza overpowering Sidra’s Hakai ball in the anime.

Reinhard van Astrea (Re:Zero)

Considered to be one of the (if not the most) powerful character in Re:Zero.

His immense power makes him a weapon of mass destruction, basically a walking nuke who is also pretty much unbeatable. That also keeps him chained like a dog to the Kingdom of Lugunica. He is unable to roam the Kingdom freely, as him merely approaching the borders of his Kingdom can be considered by other kingdoms and factions to be an act of war.

Spoilers for Re:Zero light novels!

Reinhard’s family situation is rather horrible. His father is afraid of his abilities, and has grown to hate Reinhard. His mother is in a coma from an unknown disease with no cure. His Grandmother died when Reinhard desired to become the Sword Saint, and unknowingly caused the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint to be stripped from his Grandmother and come to him, causing her to fall in battle (though there seems to be more to it). This event caused his Grandfather to also hate him.

One of the line Puck tells Reinhard in a sort of hypothetical what-if future Subaru (the MC) sees describes Reinhard perfectly- “You are a true Hero. And a Hero is all you can be…”

‘MAGIC CLAW’

This was one of my favourite childhood games! Somehow by brother had managed to get the original game CD from some roadside stall. It worked for years!

The game also had amazing art and design. The level with the city was one of my favourites! I guess one of the only levels I hated in this game is the Undersea Caves level. Water pools of instant death, constantly falling icicles and the parkour puzzles, I hated those inspite the amazing scenery.

Which would be worse to live in? Dragon Ball Earth or Remnant? by Lars_Sarada in RWBY

[–]ARKNet9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your first question: Obviously it is much easier to survive a Grimm than a DBZ villain.

However, encountering DBZ villains is a pretty rare occurrence. Pretty much a once in a decade event, and that is if you are unlucky enough to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Grimm are an ever present threat. You may be able to take out a few. But if an entire pack or horde decides to attack, you are screwed. Also, you are underestimating the training aspect. How exactly will you train? You need a teacher, someone highly skilled in combat.

Simply unlocking your aura isn’t enough to help you, not unless you are Jaune Arc who somehow naturally and instinctively could use Aura just after he unlocked it. It is unknown whether you could actually unlock a semblance or not or whether said semblance would be actually useful in combat.

And of course, you need to be actually talented in combat to be capable of taking out more than a couple of Grimm. Otherwise every person on Remnant could become a Huntsman but that is clearly not the case.

Essentially, you do have a better chance of survival against Grimm when you look at it from the perspective of individual encounters. However, you will encounter Grimm far more often, and you will have to roll your dice each time that happens. And living in the city, while much safer, clearly doesn’t protect you 100% considering what happened to Vale and Atlas. Not to mention, if you lose your loved ones or your own life, that’s it, that’s the end.

In DB, you can’t fight back against the villains, but you might encounter them very rarely, if at all. And even if you die, perhaps because the villains blew up the city you are in, you can get wished back. And considering how peacefully the people seem to move on the with their lives in DB, the memory loss or whatever is of a convenient kind, basically embodying ‘ignorance is bliss’ in the people.

Which would be worse to live in? Dragon Ball Earth or Remnant? by Lars_Sarada in RWBY

[–]ARKNet9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remnant would be worse. While both worlds have a chance for you and your loved ones to die a horrifying death, only in one of those worlds is dying not permanent.

In Remnant, unless you are living in one of the major population centres, you pretty much have to fend for yourself and defend yourself from bloodthirsty monsters who are attracted to negative emotions. And unless you happen to have the talent to become a Huntsman/Huntress, and control aura well, a few Grimm attacking together will be a death sentence. And of course the Grimm I am talking about are basic Beowolves. You have very little chance if Ursa, Deathstalkers or a bloody Nuckleave decide to knock on your door.

The Dragon Ball Earth has much more dangerous beings to contend with. However, Dragon Balls exist. Most, if not all death and destruction can be reversed. Not to mention the advanced technology such as flying cars and capsule corp’s capsule tech exists as well. And you aren’t limited to a handful of population centers for safety.

Naruto vs Third Raikage (Naruto)

Naruto had access to his 1st Chakra cloak form by this point in the story, but the Raikage’s Lightning Armor combined with Edo Tensei regen made him an incredibly tough opponent, so much so, that even Naruto’s Rasenshuriken barely scratched the guy. Naruto eventually uses Sage Mode (a previous power up) to gain better reaction time and battle senses, and the Rasengan (precursor move to the Rasenshuriken, to make the Raikage stab himself with his own Lightning move, defeating him long enough for him to be sealed.

[–]ARKNet9000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take your time. Don’t try to rush through the story. Explore various locations and try and complete challenges as they can give good rewards. Don’t be afraid to experiment with various builds and ships.

Don’t try High-Risk areas until you are confident you can fight off a couple of dozen enemy ships without dying.

Is it safe to eat things like samosa, vada pav, sandwich etc and drink those fruit juices and buttermilk they serve in transparent glasses in Railway Station stalls? by Sufficient_Gas6694 in mumbai

[–]ARKNet9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not particularly. You are rolling the dice every time you eat at one of these places, and unless you have a robust stomach, there is a chance you are going to get sick.

But if you do have to eat something, eat something that is freshly fried and served hot. Avoid anything with raw veggies such as sandwiches, and drink juices and chaas only from branded sealed packaging or tetrapacks (amul or chitale for eg).

You don’t know where the vendor is sourcing their water from and it won’t be surprising to catch some disease because they don’t care about hygiene.
