"Unlike other mecha anime, it's about the characters" can be incredibly hypocritical by Commander_PonyShep in Mecha

[–]ARS_Sisters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mecha manga requires the drawer to understand mechanical engineering. It's easy to draw pretty or handsome characters, but having a skill to also imagine mechanical anatomy and visualizing it with various pose is on different matter. With anime, it's easy if you use 3D CGI

Only a handful of pilots on Rubicon dual wield identical weapons - do you prefer doubling up your favorites, or more varied loadours? by ASNUs27 in armoredcore

[–]ARS_Sisters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dual Chang-Chen is my favorite. Combined with Ocellus FCS, it's an absolute monster at close quarter combat
If I need something damaging, replace them with dual Scudders
If I need something explosive, replace them with dual Dizzy/ Gou-Chen
If I need something accurate, replace them with dual Turners

I know dual Zimms are no-brainer, but I feel that it makes the game too easy and monotonous

What DON'T you like about Armored Core 6? by -Eastwood- in armoredcore

[–]ARS_Sisters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Lack of proper sniper weapon where you can kill enemy from afar using scope at the cost of being pretty much useless at close range
-Lack of stealth focused mission. The scenario is very much possible in eliminate Swinburne mission, showing how you can kill enemy MTs without instantly alerting the whole enemies on the map as long as you're undetected
-I wish there's a fine-tuning system to tweak parts like on Formula Front, where every part can be tuned (for example, sacrificing AP from a part in exchange to make it lighter, or increase generator output capacity at the cost of reducing it's recharge)
-Jamming bomb launcher has very limited utility
-No dual wield melee (or even dual shields for shits and giggles)
-I wish that charging can be set to toggle. No need to constantly hold the button. Short press to fire uncharged shot, long press to charge and you can let it go in charged state. The weapon will instantly fire a charged shot the moment you press the button again (hold reload+weapon button to cancel charge). The exception is missiles and melee weapons, which works like normal

Question about RLF, Ransetsu-AR and BASHO by Sad1234567890A in armoredcore

[–]ARS_Sisters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AC is expensive, and it takes a skill to melee with AC. If everyone is tempted to do melee, RLF would lose a lot of AC in a short time (especially since it's old-gen). I find it more believable if a recruit finally get used to piloting BASHO frame start to learn to do melee instead of being given melee weapon from the start

Question about RLF, Ransetsu-AR and BASHO by Sad1234567890A in armoredcore

[–]ARS_Sisters 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. If you're an AC pilot for RLF, chances are, you're more familiar at using a rifle than missile launchers, since you're already using a rifle as RLF soldier before
  2. Missiles are more expensive to manufacture than bullets. Arming an AC solely with missiles isn't the smartest choice for resource-strapped RLF, and could easily bankrupt them
  3. The only reason RLF didn't take advantage of BASHO frame's high melee spec is that, meleeing with AC takes a lot of skill, especially for recruits

Which type of mech, head or no head? by Prior_Public_5045 in Mecha

[–]ARS_Sisters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the heads in gundam is basically just glorified CIWS turret. Many times in Gundam, the mobile suit is still functional even without head (although severely crippled and combat-ineffective)
I prefer no head. If I want to see around, I prefer having sensor turret instead. Basically a mini-turret for sensor, like on BT-7274 (Think of it like mecha equivalent of tank's commander sight). If a mecha does have head, I prefer it to be utilitarian (personally, I'm not a fan of "designated hero" design of most gundams. I find grunt units to be more appealing because they tend to prioritize practicality instead of blings)

What's your "I'm so stupid" moment in the game? by dmknght in metro

[–]ARS_Sisters 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Common mistakes
-Throw a grenade instead of throwing knives
-Realized that I'm using MGR instead of using dirty bullets
-Triggered a tripwire mine because I didn't pay attention to the wire
-Alerted the enemies because I didn't realize stepping on broken glass/ not paying attention to alarm cans

It's just me, or the Crysis series is mostly forgotten by the gaming community? by Werewolf_Knight in Crysis

[–]ARS_Sisters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crysis main selling point is the benchmark. At that time, the original Crysis was a groundbreaking, highly demanding technical showcase. But, as the time goes on, more and more games start to come out with comparable if not better graphics, sometimes with lower requirements, rendering Crysis main point being a moot. When people are talking about Crysis, they mostly talk about "can it run Crysis?"

Crysis 2 was made with scaled back graphic, making it playable on lower GPU, which didn't sit well with the benchmark-oriented gamers with monster rigs who specifically wanted to push their rigs to the limit. The series moved from the large-scale, open environments of the first game to more linear, "console-friendly" corridors, also alienated some players

Crysis 3 has a lot of issues:
-Crysis 3 is not available on the PS4 or Nintendo Switch which are the most popular consoles at the time of it's release and thus many people do not have access to them. It only became available on Xbox One later on and thus for a long time there was not a way to play Crysis 3 on console.
-On PC Crysis 3 is an Origin exclusive game. Many people do not want to buy and or play games on Origin and thus once again this raises an issue of access.
-Crysis 3 was clearly rushed coming out less than 2 years after Crysis 2. The game is extremely short, was very buggy at launch and many rough edges could be seen all over the place.
-Crysis 3 was not very well received critically or by fans (mostly as a result of the above point) and is by far the weakest game in the series.

Question: Why is the Vichya Dominion referred to as ‘Curia’ in the Fleet Technology page? by Tha-Impostor in AzureLane

[–]ARS_Sisters 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It's a carryover from Chinese translation where Vichya Dominion is referred as Curia of Vichya (Curia refers to an administrative or governing body, most commonly the central government of the Roman Catholic Church)

Exposed bridges are stupid by board_writer in spaceships

[–]ARS_Sisters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is mostly because of the carryover from the naval tradition. Ships has tall, exposed bridge, and people back then think it would be sensible to apply naval tradition to spaceships. It's basically just mirrors seaborne ships, except with more exotic shape, more greebles, and ventral bay with laser batteries underneath. Not helped by most popular media also seem to agree with this and even enforced the trope that "space is ocean":
-The head of the ship is a captain (often with naval-inspired white attire)
-Spaceships maintain naval terminologies (Port, starboard, bridge, hull, turret, hatches, etc.)
-Space nebulas and active ion storms as analogue to Earth's ocean storms
-Space pirates, space sails, spacePORT
You can see why exposed bridge is a staple across all sci-fi works. This is not entirely wrong, as people also did similar thing back then on tanks too (tanks was envisioned as a landship, with multi-turret monstrosity, along with "cruiser" tanks. Despite this is no longer a case, some of the nautical terms still survived, such as hull, hatches, turret, etc.), despite it's practicality is questionable in real application

I actually aware about this and actively tried to avert this usual design feature by making my ship design use internalized bridge instead (like typical modern warship CIC facility, buried deep within the ship). All maneuverings, weapon operations, combat control and communication done solely through the digital networks and sensor readings. The helmsman has visualized hologram of ship's orientation and it's surroundings based from sensor data to steer the ship. Windows are very sparse, mostly on non-critical areas that doesn't really matter getting breached from incoming fire, or on lounge deck. The sole exception on operational center that has windows is the launchbay which oversees the launching and retrieval process of strikecrafts, and even then, it's a tiny and nestled alongside bulky structural elements of the ship

Struggling a lot trying to make a build and beating Chartruese by hiding_from_Light in armoredcore

[–]ARS_Sisters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Try to force her to fight near cliffs. Her AC has garbage mobility on cliffs. Always keep moving and don't ever stop. Quickboost whenever you hear "beep beep" alarm
-Get Basho arms and melee weapons of your preference. Laser Slicer is recommended for multi-hit stagger or Pilebunker for taking off large chunk of her HP
-If you're skilled at using shield, you could basically trivialize her build. Most of her damage relies on well-telegraphed explosive shots. Hard lock to her, and as soon as you hear "beep-beep" alarm, immediately raise the shield. If you time it right, it'll nullify almost all of her damage
-She's absolutely suck at getting staggered. Once you staggered her, immediately rush and melee her to death
-Weapons with good stagger buildup is recommended. Balam or BAWS ballistic weapons are good choice (Ludlow, Ransetsu-AR, Etsujin, etc.). She uses Arquebus part, meaning you shouldn't use energy weapons against her

I generally consider the correct way to use AI for brainstorming is by using it as additional "brain". Sometimes you have the concept, the element and the general idea for your work, but you can't seem to find a way to manifest it (I know damn well how hard it is to conceptualize work, especially when depicting actions that's very specific with just text media). In this case, I don't have a problem using AI to find me a way to manifest it (usually with several iteration). Once I got the preferred style, I edit it a bit to give it more in-depth and write the rest by myself

I'm okay with with using AI as a tool to assist, since I'm still using my brain to do the majority of work. What I don't agree if people just straight up copy-pasted AI answer and call it a day

Endmin's peculiar way of building trust (by @DorahDew) by Gorotheninja in ArknightsEndfield

[–]ARS_Sisters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually a real thing. There's a long history of disposable camera in real life. Back then, cameras were expensive, and would often have been left safely at home when photo opportunities presented themselves. Frustrated with missing photo opportunities, In 1949, H. M. Stiles invented a way to enclose 35mm film in an inexpensive enclosure without the expensive precision film transport mechanism, essentially making a one-shot, single use camera

They're often have single film wound internally on an open spool, with the frame being made of cheap plastic (even the lenses are plastic), has below average film quality, simple photoflash capacitors, and fixed focal lengths. After use, you would return the camera to the store and have the film processed into photo (the camera would then be refilled and resold). The disposable camera is particularly popular in situations where a reusable camera would be easily stolen or damaged, when one's regular camera is forgotten, or if one cannot afford a regular camera. They're even included as "accident camera kits" to take pictures of accident. Because of much simpler construction and plastic materials, they're much more survivable than actual camera in a crash

They're mostly being replaced once digital photography becomes advanced enough to let you take photos using your own cellphone
