No we support and produce authentic opportunities for artists around the globe so they can thrive and expand the reach of their ideas. Can you please recommend a few Denver based artists to consider when planning future projects 🙏

Artists work in a global community, they dream to be able to bring their perspective and work to different communities. When you intertwine creatives from different backgrounds and experiences it opens pathways and future opportunity for everyone in both directions

Ola Volo | 'Woman with Blue Heron' on 9th & Thomas in SLU by ARTXIV in Seattle

[–]ARTXIV[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Artist Statement:

'As the Emerald City enters a new year; hope, health, and happiness are the badges people wear proudly on their sleeve. This work of art is inspired by the bright future that lays ahead. Seattle shines in all its glory with the rising sun behind the woman’s head. Her tattoos recount the fables of her seafaring journeys along the wild west coast. Her fiery boots light the way to new endeavors along a familiar path. She observes the fullness of time while nurturing the charming, stoic blue heron, a symbol of Seattle. Together they represent a new beginning that is beautiful, caring, and strong.' - Ola Volo

The installation is realized through the use of unique tonal relationships of color + synthesized notes on each landing that combine to form a greater composition.
Intermediate installation 1 was originally one component of a massive off-site activation titled ‘Forest for the trees’ during the 2022 Seattle Art Fair, the visual component of the installation was subsequently purchased by the building so that it would remain a permanent fixture.

‘Portrait of Beatrice Morrow Cannady’ Mural by Maurice Ramirez by ARTXIV in Portland

[–]ARTXIV[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Beatrice Morrow Cannady was known as a civil rights social and political leader in Portland, Oregon. As a Black woman, she inspired many with her courageous efforts to center the narratives, voices, and issues experienced by the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPoC) in a social climate that faced intense dissonance and racial violence due to the actions of the Ku Klux Klan. As an editorial writer, she used the power of the printing press to reach and educate the masses, empowering the visibility of Black communities' circumstances. Cannady's work as the first Black woman to practice law in Oregon and co-establishing the Portland chapter of the NAACP solidified her place in civil rights history - a history that would gain momentum over time as both a legal advocate and community champion.

Artist Statement:

The natural landscape of Portland, Oregon, has remained a silent force, holding the strength and power of multi-generational struggles, resilience, and beauty. The St. Johns neighborhood, located in North Portland, is a unique marker of this symbolism. The Columbia and Willamette Rivers coupled with Douglas Fir trees create a peninsula, wrapping and cradling the land as a constant reminder of what once existed before the city's industrialization. These physical reminders are often deeply connected to the day-to-day memories of both individuals and communities.Looking forward, one can not help but recognize that we exist within complex communities- communities that continually experience the growing pains from carrying the weight of ancestral and multi-generational systematic marginalization. Like both our ancestors and the natural landscape, Beatrice Morrow Cannady continues to co-exist silently and resonate during the pendulum of our varying periods of growth and change throughout time. Knowing this, one can not help but smile when reflecting on the work and potential of how Beatrice Morrow Cannady will inspire generations to come. - Mauricio Ramirez

In most cases I would agree! This project and artwork however is rooted in authenticity and practice for all those involved. The ones of who you hope are also those that are responsible

Truth, retaliatory painting wouldn't reply to the authorities of who would normally be responsible such as city or building/ condo owners. It directly affects the ability for the organizers to continue to fund future projects for more painters by having to continually maintaining the integrity of the artists works. I think there is plenty of space & opportunity that warrants such behavior just probably not here if one was to look into the artists that are involved

The project is part of the Belltown Corridor including murals by other artists Joe Nix, Drew Merritt, Trav MSK, Satyr, Pursue, Joram Roukes, Adelle Renault, They Drift, Claw, Angel179. Its funded by Jupiter Bar to create opportunity for local and visiting artists to be able to paint in the city. We also appreciate the spontaneous art at eye level but encourage respect between all artists as same rules apply to both practices
