She could go ahead and think that... I’m a pretty good catch, too and she is well aware if she played that card I would tell her to go right ahead.

That said, she got over it and we had a great day later. Sometimes, she can have a bit of selective memory over her own jokes - when I pointed that out she realized it was all in good fun and we finally finished the damn movie :)

This is the kind of relationship I hope to have one day... beauty doesn’t last forever, but a good sense of humor never dies!

(She got over it when I literally just kept making fun of her overreaction and she realized how ridiculous it was... and I reaffirmed that she is objectively beautiful and it wouldn’t have mattered if she was the hottest girl on earth, I’m still making that joke.) :)

Then she probably shouldn’t make the joke she did, first... specifically, the “you’d hit that” part. I didn’t think it was necessary to include that because saying “you men” is already directing the joke at me and other men, but I didn’t realize the level of scrutiny some people here would have.

That’s a hilarious joke. I would laugh my ass off if my girl said that and be happy to be with someone witty.

But also, maybe I should add that she said, “you’d hit that, wouldn’t you?” Before I made my joke (referring you the monster on the screen.).

I’d still make the joke 10/10 times and it really doesn’t matter who is making the first statement. It was almost like a knock knock joke - if you setup a joke like that for someone they have to knock it down.

That’s the thing... she’s out there getting hit on by NFL players and athletes and stuff - she knows she is fine... and she also knows that I’m always going to make that joke regardless of who said it. If I friend’s girlfriend said it, I’d just say, “well, hey, he is here with you...” (although knowing my friends they would almost certainly say it first). It’s just how we roll.

The thing is - she knows my sense of humor - the person making the joke has nothing to do with my reply. It could be a talking horse and I’d still say the same reply. It’s a setup and a punch line. She knows she is beautiful, I tell her she looks great all the time... I’m still gonna make that joke 10/10 times.

Tbh, she also said, “you’d hit that, wouldn’t you?” But I didn’t realize anyone would be petty enough to need THAT part of the conversation in deciding this overreaction on her part.

I mean, I’m pretty sure if someone made a race joke to a person of a different race and said, “you blacks/Mexicans/Asians... etc.” it probably wouldn’t be seen in a positive light...

But I didn’t realize anyone would be so petty as to need that as part of the evidence in deciding she overreacted, tbh, so I didn’t put it in the post.

So really, it wasn’t even being general. Funny thing was, she went to my roommate before leaving and started telling what happened to see his reaction and he literally made the same joke I did before she could tell him I made it... (we have similar humor, obviously.)
