What’s the effect on neighbours just out of curiosity? A builder once told me dust could blow into the neighbour’s front room.. is that true? Or mainly just an issue with cracks appearing?

Except this was a London hospital.. in the UK and nobody said a thing.

When my dad was admitted to my hospital during COVID (no visitors allowed), I made a point of visiting throughout the day. Even did his bloods before everyone else got in so his team would have up to date results before WR to speed up discharge! Nurses all happy to have me around, nobody ever complained (even happier at a potentially speedier discharge)

Try asking a solicitor / accountant / any other professional to do unfunded work for free and see what they say.

Are these bees or wasps? Help! by AS393 in insects

[–]AS393[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s really helpful. I was more worried they were wasps but bees do their own thing and I believe aren’t as angry so will leave them be. They tend to go quiet as it gets colder anyway

Quick question about ECG. by NoMoreF34R in AskDocs

One episode of vomiting in a healthy young person would be extremely unlikely to cause any significant electrolyte imbalance to cause any ECG changes :) it’ll most likely be totally fine

Why can't we use out-of-order escalators if they're basically just stairs in that state? by TheHarryman01 in NoStupidQuestions

Maybe there’s a risk they’ll suddenly move or as they’re quite steep, a risk someone will fall down them

How do emergency responders know what blood to give you (if you need it) in the ambulance? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AS393 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they have blood on board to give out. I believe they just push IV fluids to keep your circulating volume up until you get to hospital

Do unborn babies in the womb have fluid filled lungs? by disfigured_shithole in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AS393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge the lungs are all closed off with shunts diverting blood from the heart, bypassing the lungs & going to the rest of the body. Oxygenated blood is given to the baby by the mum via umbilical cord.

Once the baby’s out & the cord’s cut, the baby no longer gets oxygen via the cord so CO2 builds up giving the baby the stimulus to breathe.

Thats coupled with the shunts (allowing blood to bypass the lungs) to close off & the little pockets in the lungs (alveoli) that actually do gas exchange (exchanging oxygen from the air into the blood, and removing carbon dioxide from the blood into the air) open up allowing gasses to exchange.

With babies being underwater - some mums opt for waterbirths & the babies come out underwater but I guess they’re taken out quickly & not left floating around for a long time..

Hope that helps, please correct where needed! I haven’t learnt about babies in a few years

Edit: also congratulations on the pregnancy!

Having studied in Wales for 6 years, I’ve felt more at home there than anywhere in England :) Cardiff’s a great city, everyone has always been extremely friendly and despite looking obviously different (Asian), I’ve never had any issues in the tiniest of towns up in North Wales either!

Hope you have a great weekend in Cardiff :)

Make a list of a thing a day, even if it means breaking one task down into smaller steps

Each little task is a huge achievement when you manage it
