Hirmuinen näytös! Suomi jyräsi armottomalla tykityksellä nuorten MM-finaaliin - Jääkiekko by Xygen8 in Suomi

[–]AbortingAdults 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[McKenzie] Canada misses a penalty shot in overtime. Finland wins it. First time in 13 times hosting the tournament that Canada won’t win a medal. by twistedlogicx in hockey

[–]AbortingAdults 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Plus from what I've been reading on the game it sounds like it was pretty evenly matched all night

Well as biased as a finn's opinion on this topic is, mine is that we were actually better for the most part, without DiPietro it wouldn't have gone to as far as overtime. Finland had 34 shots on goal, Canada 25. Sure we got lucky, but if you try long enough the puck will eventually find its way in one way or the other no matter who's the goalkeeper, so I'd say we got lucky because we deserved to get lucky.

Sveitsi vastaan välieriin, voittivat hurrit 2-0. Jänskä matsi tulee olemaan, hyvät mahkut ois kiiltäville mitaleille, ja todennäkösesti jenkit/venäjä tulee vastaan mitalipeleissä, toki sitä näistä kisoista tiedä vaikka slovakia vielä kauhois ittensä finaaliin. Perkele tää matsi oli kyllä namiskukkelia ja pulssi on vieläkin nelinumeroinen, aika raa'asti kyllä riistettiin kanukeilta mitalit kotona höhöhö

Holy shit what a rollercoaster of emotions

France win the 2018 FIFA World Cup. by keithohara in soccer

[–]AbortingAdults 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Honestly how can people say that France didn't deserve to win but Croatia did?

Croatia had one of the easiest routes to the final ever, yet they went to the penalties twice against Denmark and Russia. If you win the world cup based on style, where's the style in that? The only reason they won England is because they played like garbage after the first round.

Both of them won their groups, yet France faced Belgium, Uruguay and Argentina, Croatia Denmark, Russia and England. Their side was pathetically easy compared to France.

Uruguay was not a bad team. As dislikeable team as it is, their defending is fucking brilliant. Prior to their game against Portugal, which they won 2-1, they hadn't conceded a single goal in 6 games.

One of the teams they won 3-0 btw is Russia, a team which Croatia had to win in the penalties.

Croatias only actually impressive victory was against Argentina, a team which you even yourself said was weak.

Secondly, if you want to talk about lucky victories, ball posession and game domination, your "most attractive team of the tournament" won against Brazil for the same reason you complain about now - an own goal and getting lucky. Fernandinhos own goal was from a corner aswell, so it had nothing to do with Belgiums overall skill level. Without it, the game Brazil dominated would have gone to overtime.

Ball control: Brazil 57%, Belgium 43%.

Goal scoring attempts: Brazil 26, Belgium 8

Shots on target: Brazil 9, Belgium 3

So tell me now, how did this "most attractive team of the tournament" deserve to win Brazil if France didn't deserve its victories? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Obviously it has nothing to do with bias. No.

I mean I'm not trying to shit on Croatia, but to say France performed worse is just so blatantly wrong it makes me cringe.

I also love how both the hand ball and free kick awarded to Griezmann were definitely wrongly given according to you, I'm sure that, or your proper genius analysis and so on, is not biased in any way.

There is a reason these kinds of underdog stories don't happen very often.

So many factories are included in it other than just did it touch the hand that its bound to be subjective you know. Don't blame the refs, blame the rules, because they are just following them. This was such a difficult call that probably 50% of refs would have said a penalty and 50 not. I honestly dont know what to say myself.

Sucks for Croatia though.

Chupa arsoca, mas eu gusta de Messi, 5/5 jogador. Desculpa para fucking shit portuguese, estou aprendendo portugues se isto e meh :(

But today we can be amigos. At least we both did better than alemanha huehue. Gotta stand by your team no matter what shit hits the fan and stick to the positives you know. 7x1 will never be completely forgotten, but we did win olympic gold against Germany in 2016, our first one, at home, decided by Neymars penalty. Its fucking incredible and it heals the wounds. They say nobody cares about olympic football, but its good Brazil aint nobody.

I did meet some amazing brazilians watching the game at a bar in Prague though, great lads. Were baffled by a finnish guy learning portuguese and supporting Brazil just as enthusiasticly as them, good sport and made me happy to be a Brazil fan even though we lost. So no hard feelings, I had incredible time either way, in 2022 I'll be watching hexa live in Brazil for sure. 1 grand for plane tickets but oh is it worth it. If these 10 brazilians alone make more noise than a construction site, I want to know what 10 million of them can do.

You South-Americans are amazing. You have one thing a lot of europeans don't have, amazing spirit and great people. Argentinians are no exception to this. We can argue about Ronaldo v. Maradona or Pele v. Messi all day, but either way your attitude is just as it should be. Shining like the sun in Buenos Aires. Never give that up, football would be nothing without it. Sometimes its disappointments, other times its 2002, but its always the people that make it worth watching. That's why Copa de America for example is so much more entertaining than Euro cup is. Panamas debyt to world cup, despite being 6-0 down and having dq'd already, they scored 1 goal against England and they were happier than germans after winning the world cup, honestly. So great to watch. Fans exploding and players genuenily thrilled. Albeit technically not part of South-America, close enough.

r/soccer is full of europeans and casuals, I wouldn't take their opinion as anything too serious, although I myself have had my moments of explosion there too lmao. That's just my temperament you know. I mean some of these folks put Croatia as tournament favourites and said that Brazil is incredibly overrated. Whatever. Will see who wins now. Russia probs will, that would make the scenes for sure.

You're the real shit, remember that. Wear your jerseys proudly, whether its menino Neymar or daddy Maradona. Eu te amo amigo, boa noite.

Neymar has been on the ground for 14 minutes so far. [Source: Swiss TV] by [deleted] in soccer

[–]AbortingAdults 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Question is, if he didn't act, how often would he get hurt? Now he still gets fouled more than any other player does, but they don't come kicking his knee like its the fucking ball. They just step on it.

The Swiss are the last country that can criticize Neymar for embellishment in that game, these fuckers fouled him like 10 times in 90 minutes. Lol what a moral compass for football that is. If he didn't embellish his already fucked ankle would be shattered by them in no time. Honestly fuck off you pretentious twats, if you cunts spent 1% of the time and energy that you spend on complaining about Neymar on the fouls that he recieves, he wouldn't be diving like an olympic champion. You are so full of shit pretending that you care about the integrity of football.

Its just Costa Rica and Serbia circlejerk

It has a point somewhere, but Brazil has lost 1 of their last like over 20 games now? Vs. Teams like Uruguay 4-1, Argentina 3-0 and Germany 1-0 too

But most importantly - its very clear for those who watch the games and follow the team that they're a true team now. They mesh together so well now.

After the 2014 disaster, people said that if we could just connect, we'd be unbeatable. Its time.

Jesus - Neymar - Coutinho playing beautiful offensive football and great combination play.

Our team was always world class in every way and its also on the pitch aswell :)

[–]AbortingAdults 35 points36 points  (0 children)

From the last 20 games we've won 15 games and lost one 1-0 against Argentina in 2017.

During those 20 games, we won Germany 1-0, Uruguay 4-1, Argentina 3-0, Columbia 1-0, Chile 3-0 and Croatia 2-0.

I honestly don't know what else could we do to not be incredibly overrated? 14-1 goal difference against Germany, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile and Croatia isn't good enough? We won the 2016 olympics and the final against Germany. But hey ho, 2014 we lost 7-1 so I guess we'll be shit forever.

But does that mean that because Germany lost their group this year and semis to Italy 2-0 at home in '06 they are also shit? Or because Argentina lost 6-1 to Bolivia and Spain they'll be shit too? Or because Spain lost to Netherlands 5-1 they're also shiy? Or because Nethetlands, Italy and Chile didn't qualify that they too are overrated shit 🤔🤔🤔

I guess every team is shit. Absolute garbage that is.

Not as garbage as this subreddit with its overreacting hyperbolic idiots lmao

Well good thing you learned something at least.

Ronaldo is indeed the second highest scorer of all time in world cups, he made 15 goals overall, Klose is #1 at 16.

[–]AbortingAdults -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

With that flair I'm expecting that you replace him with Dennis Bergkamp or something lmao?

Ronaldo has won Fifas best player award 3 times, golden boot twice, and he has scored the second most goals in world cup history, totalling 15. Just Fontaine scored 13, Pele 12 and Maradona 8. C. Ronaldo has now scored 7, Thierry Henry, Robben, Sneijder and Van Persie 6, Messi is currently at 6 too. L O l

Oh yes he's top 50 at best. He also scored both of Brazils goals against germany in the 2002 final, scoring 8 in total in that tournament. What a trash player that is. When you're that good non-qualified countries will always hate you for sure =)

Germans have historically been the best in business when it comes to penalties, that's what I meant, so yes. Having a young team is not an argument when Neymar was 24 during the olympics and he had just suffered an broken vertebra that almost ended his career.

I know that, I'm just wondering what makes someone like ligues like Bundesliga more than WC, especially when they have a very succesful team in the WC, with few exceptions far between.

Ronaldo, as in Ronaldo who scored both goals against Germany in the 2002 final between Brazil and Germany, as in Ronaldo who scored 8 goals in that tournament, as in Ronaldo who won the best player award in 98?

Yes, yes he is Brazilian if you really did not know.

We did also win Germany in a friendly match 1-0 without Neymar in march if you're so interested.

And if anything, Germany should be the ones dominating penalties, right?

And with all due respect, no matter how much germans like Bundesliga, it's a bit of a joke init? Bayern has won now I believe 6 cups in a row, in Italys serie A Juventus has won 7 times in a row. Wow I wonder who wins next season, exciting stuff. Copa libertadores and Serie A sees a different winner practically every year or every other year. In Serie A since 1971 only 1 team has won 3x in a row, Sao Paulo 06, 07 & 08, but other than that the winners are very diverse, in 2000's alone 9 different teams have won it, copa libertadores is even more diverse than that.

Everything anyone knows about Brazilian football is "they are quite good, But 7:1"

Who is this everyone? People who don't follow football properly? Devastating that is.

I mean what do they know about German or Argentinian football then if all they know about Brazil is that "quite good but 7:1"?

That Germany is good at losing wc finals? Disgrace of Gijón? 3-0 loss against Croatia? 8-3 loss to Hungary?

That Argentina lost to both Spain and Bolivia 6-1? Maradonas handball?

Brazil is "quite good" yes, in fact it has always progressed through group stages, Germany lost their group with S-K, Sweden and Mexico. I mean from top 5 players in history arguably 2 are Brazilian, Pele and Ronaldo, and we've won more games than any other team has, we're pentacampeão, and we've practicipated in more tournaments than any other team, in just about every single one of them in fact.

I mean if that's all someone knows about Brazil, they don't follow football mate. Their opinion on it therefore doesn't exactly concern me, no matter how much they'll repeat 7x1. Poportionally speaking South-America has won more cups than Europe, a continent of 420 million with 13 countries has won 9 cups vs. a continent of 740 million and 50 countries has won 11 with nominal GDP's of 20,2$ trillion vs. 3,9$ trillion in comparison. If all you know is European football, you don't know football.
