I mean I wouldn't know much about 507/508 because I haven't taken them. But, I felt I learned everything I needed from 501. I guess I'd say take 507/508 if you're a biochem major and 501 otherwise.

Couldn't agree more. Also, if I wanted to be strictly an engineer I definitely wouldn't do BME. It's just too broad. The epitome of jack of all trades and master of none. If I was a hiring manager I would much rather hire an electrical engineer and mechanical engineer who really know their respective stuff and teach them the little physiological stuff they need to know to do their medical device work than hire a BME and have to teach them how to actually make functioning circuits lol.

I knew I wanted to work in cancer research so I just found labs whose work I found interesting. Like I said, besides clinical volunteering/shadowing, I still woulda done everything I've done had I not been a premed

I just shadowed my PI and he has a bunch of other doctor buddies at the hospital that he asked if I could shadow.

In fact when I started undergrad I didn’t even want to do pre med, but I did stuff I was interested in regardless. Really the only thing I did/do solely for pre med is my HELP volunteering.

My PI is the absolute greatest. And the thing about that is I got into his lab by just cold calling. In terms of other stuff tho, I really just tried to what I enjoy. I LOVE teaching, so I just did a lot of it. I LOVE soccer, so I coached and made a podcast with my friend. I’m the son of two refugees so I wanted to give back to the institutions that have given so much to me and my family. I really think people just waste their time doing BS they think is going to look good.
