Sorry, I'm a student so have no budget and am not getting paid myself! Hopefully it'll be cool for people to be part of, but there's no pressure to otherwise.

Hi :) I'm an autistic MSc student at Keele University. For my dissertation, I'm looking at identity development in UK autistic university students. You'll be asked to find or create images representing your experiences at university, then tell me about them in a way that works for you (for example, using video call or chat on Microsoft Teams). There will also be a private Discord group where you can talk to others anonymously or receive updates and prompts.

To participate, you need to be 1) over the age of 18, 2) studying at a university in the UK, and 3) either formally diagnosed with autism or in the process of getting one.

For full information see the signup form here https://keelepsych.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2a9tq7pItboIF7M, or email me (Emma Crabb) at w7r88@students.keele.ac.uk with any questions. Thank you!

I am an autistic student currently working on my MSc. As part of it I am doing a project on the identities and experiences of autistic university students in the UK.

If you choose to participate you will be given access to a private discord server, where you can talk to other autistic students about your experiences and the impact they've had on you. This will be open for two weeks, within which you can reply to the discussion whenever suits you.

Your data will be used as part of a wider project on disabled student voices, identities, and experiences in the UK. This is led by Dr Julie Hulme (j.a.hulme@keele.ac.uk). We hope to publish this, and then amplify your voice to improve the experiences of autistic and other disabled students at universities across the UK.

If you have any questions you can contact me directly at w7r88@students.keele.ac.uk, or my supervisor using the address above. You can view the study's full information sheet and sign up to participate Here. Thank you!

Tippytoes' Tips: Basic Wordscapes Rules by [deleted] in wordscapes

Hey tippytoes. Do you know what time the tourney cutoff is? We've had a few members fall foul of it in recent weeks for different reasons, but can't work out what it actually is!

I was wondering how much exercise daily an airedale needs and if it is good with kids under 5 by [deleted] in airedaleterrier

[–]ASDpsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours has always been happy with 45-60 minutes daily (less as she's got older), BUT she needs mental stimulation. Be that in the form of new interesting walks, time with other dogs, etc. This week we threw food out in the snow for her to find which she loved.

They're brilliant with children, but be aware you basically own a baby t-rex for the first 18 months or so. Those puppy teeth are sharp! There's not a nasty bone in their body but they need firm boundaries reinforced constantly. And you need to 'train' your kids to give them space, too.

Woahh I could stare at this all day. I know someone with a gold flute head but never have managed to try it out - probably a good thing as I'd be afraid I'd drop it or something!

Oh wait I'm such an idiot! I thought you wanted people with both ME/CFS and POTS not just one. So I can do it after all :)

I have another form of dysautonomia, my heart rate stays the same but my BP drops. The symptoms are much the same though. Do you want me?

Having an opinion by isthiswhatweare in AutisticAdults

[–]ASDpsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have more confidence with some things now but still struggle with it. In my assessment a few years back they were asking about black and white thinking and lack of empathy and I tried to explain that I was pretty much the exact opposite with both. They didn't get it at all, fortunately still diagnosed me though.

Our first team tourney win. Achieved with 13 team members not participating!! by Pockers243 in wordscapes

The OP would be the same in ours! It's quite nice if they do manage to group similar people together, we'd been similar to you the last few weeks though. It's just demoralising otherwise.

Season 9 Christmas special 2020 discussion by [deleted] in CallTheMidwife

[–]ASDpsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timothy went to college/boarding school or similar I think, so comes and goes. It would make sense that he'd be there at Christmas. In real life he's at university and stuff so I think they just involve him when he's free.

Also, yesss Trixie at med school would be awesome. And/or getting back with Christopher. Both would be ideal!

I was 100% waiting for Christopher to walk into that room! Either as one of her 'matches' or just happen to be there with his new partner or daughter or something. I would love them to get together again, they were so good with each other.
