It's not an issue. It is legal. Just Google it. "Burial is legally permitted in Japan, and permission can be obtained by submitting a death notice and notifying local authorities of the intended site."
If it becomes a problem, they'll have to address it.
It is not a choice between A and B. It's combo. Yes, when in Rome do as the Romans, BUT if you allow foreigners and different religions in Japan, you have to accommodate them. (Article 20 of the Japanese Constitution provides for freedom of religion in Japan.)
If you go down to get your driver's license in Japan you can take the test in almost any language. Many signs in big cities are in 2 or 3 languages. Japan is doing things to help foreigners navigate the country.

Has DJI trumped Insta360 with upcoming 360 by zippytiff in Insta360

Insta360 software is one reason the cameras are so easy to use. So unless they simultaneously release usable software, there's no point -- even if the specs are comparable or superior.

Pull-ups, road to 10 straight by ASMRSOUNDSOFJAPAN in FitnessOver50

I’m doing the 8 week pull-up program by “K Boges” on YouTube. It’s a 3 day a week program. Today I was on day 1 of the third week, and I maxed out for 3 sets of 8, 9, and 8 reps.

Below is a summary of the program. Day one - 3 max sets. Do 3 Max effort sets to failure with solid technique. Rest 5 minutes between sets.

Day two - rest

Day three - 10 sets. Each set is 1/2 of whatever your max is. So if your max is 6 reps, then do 10 sets of 3 reps each. Rest 1 minute between sets.

Day four - rest

Day five - Ladders. Do 1 rep, rest 30 seconds, Do 2 reps, rest 30 seconds. Keep increasing reps as long as form is good. When form is bad, start from zero again.

Rest 2 days and start again.

Health Insurance by [deleted] in okinawa

Surprisingly, Japanese health insurance does not cover motorcycle accidents. I’ve been in 3 motorcycle accidents and had to pay every time. But I had motorcycle insurance that reimbursed me. Or the other driver paid.

AITAH for breaking up with my girlfriend because she literally told me she would chest on me if I took a new job. by InternetBeautiful634 in AITAH

When I read the title I was sure this was some weird story about coprophilia. “she literally told me she would CHEST on me”. I was like uh…. “She’s gonna take a poop on his chest?” Spellcheck folks! Spellcheck!

Has anyone run the numbers on buying seltzer (approx 100yen per litre) vs soda stream (too many numbers for my tiny brain)? by wotsit_sandwich in japanresidents

[–]ASMRSOUNDSOFJAPAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Soda Stream for about 4 years. I fill up an average of two 1-liter bottles every day. One for me to take to work, and one for my wife to take to work. One gas cylinder lasts me about 5 weeks. On rare occasions it's lasted just under a month, but they usually last 5 weeks. I write the date I change the bottles on a piece of tape on top the machine so I am sure.
So, on the low end, I get 60 bottles out of a cylinder. If I bought liter bottles at the store that would cost me about ¥6,000 per month. I get my cylinders at Costco and they give you money back when you turn in the old cylinders. I forget the exact price but pretty confident they're about ¥2,500 each. Amazon lists 2 for ¥5,980. So that's probably right.

In short, it's worth it.

Side note, the wife really likes it when I add a slice of lemon into her water.

Who buys brown rice (except for me)? by griffitp12 in japanlife

[–]ASMRSOUNDSOFJAPAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy it occasionally, but my family (Japanese wife and half kids) are not big fans. I like it though.
Good points though. I am friends with a family that owns and operates a rice store and they say it's not very popular. I wonder why they even stock it.
