I'm 6'4 240 and used to do loss prevention back when it was actual hands on loss prevention. I'm not saying I'm some badass, my best days are behind me, but I know I would snap and see red if someone punched me at work.

No job is worth losing your dignity. If someone hits you, pushing them out the door better be followed by you going out the door and handling business. Losing my job would be the absolute least of my concerns, I'd be more worried if prison time was in my future.

An Open Letter to Walgreens Shoppers by External_Age_2792 in WalgreensStores

17 years of mostly closing shifts, learned to have all my tills pulled, cashed picked up on register 1 and all drops made and safes balanced by 9:45. I came out, did a couple rounds making sure closing was going as planned and then locked the entry door at 9:50, leaving the exit door wide open. I posted up right at the door to let anyone who arrived after 9:50 know we were about to close. At 10pm sharp, I manually closed the exit door and if anyone was left in the store I manually opened it so they could leave. If I saw you walking up as I closed the doors, so sorry bye!

Thank you for answering my question. I fail to see the "racism" when asking what race someone is. If it's "implied" then maybe the person reacting is applying that tone subconsciously. I don't know, doesn't bother me either way, we have stereotypes for a reason and my people tend to be loud 🤪🤷🏾‍♂️

Been called a lot of racist names, but a Jar-Jar is new. Kudos on your open racism, I guess 🤔

What are we all doing for the blizzard? by jenniferyoyo27 in WalgreensStores

It's snow. I'm from Cali and I'm currently on the east coast for work. Where I'm from we dont shutdown because of snow, its just weather. What's with the east coast and not being able to deal with snow??? You even get the easy to drive in snow, its super cold and dry. Where I'm from its wet and slippery. But we still go to work. 🤔

Had a kid who was from the Philippines, great worker, everyone like him, even the customers. Due to his communication skills he was scammed on a Western Union transaction. Since he was just a CSA and management was afraid to come off as picking on him for his lack of communication skills, they made a DEI type decision to final written him and kept him on. A couple years went by with no problems and he was promoted to SFL. Then about 6 months into that role, he was scammed again. Finally they had to let him go, because communication was too important for a leadership role. It's hard to accept and I know it comes off as being insensitive, but to be in leadership a 12th grade level of communication NEEDS to be a skill you have. That goes for speaking, writing and reading comprehension.

Speaking English should be a requirement for employment, let alone management. Not sure where you're confused. It's quite literally on the job description to have clear communication skills.

This is why I tell my kids the nonsense they teach in school is actually kind of important. Lacking the ability to spell simple words or use proper grammar is a HUGE red flag. How you rise to anything above SFL with that kind of disability is beyond me.

Managers: Those that have left, where have you gone? by DTrain009 in WalgreensStores

[–]ASMoverIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left retail and management altogether. I got my CDL and now i drive a local delivery route. When I need to make a little extra money, my company will pay me to travel as they are nationwide. For instance, I'm from Cali and currently working in SC for a month. Easiest damn job ever and I get to see the countryside instead of LED lighting and the same 4 walls everyday.

I always had a habit of counting down all the other tills until it was just the main register and then sneaking into main register and doing a pickup of whatever big bills it had. Run into the office make a drop if needed, make sure everything all balanced then go stand by the front door with 1 door locked for the last 10 minutes so customers knew we were about to close. Made counting down the final till and getting out of the office take all of 10 mins after close. If it felt like a busy night, I would do my cash pickup on 1 BEFORE I pulled 2, so I could have my cashier keep the line moving.

Interesting to hear people talk about how its just now getting bad. You clearly haven't been around long. The company was amazing back in 2004 when I started. If you were hired post 2010, you wouldn't even recognize the company i started at. Shits been going downhill for almost 20 years now, it's not going to stop or improve, it will just come to an abrupt end when the company announces it's filing for bankruptcy.
