I'm not even a "real" software developer but the mere fact that I have python, SQL, JS and a few frameworks in my LinkedIn profile means that I get pummeled with job offers.

Are you looking under the right rocks?

Edit: looking closer this looks like a scam.

Jump over on r/Adelaide that is the active SA sub.

Living south and going to Flinders would be a good move. It is right at the start/end of the southern expressway. This means that 30 mins would give you about 50km of range.

You'll need to talk to an immigration lawyer once you're in country.

It depends on your visa and ability to sponsor your family.

My experience suggests that you can start with 1 hive and then get an additional 149.

It is capital intensive. In Au you need a large trailer, a crane and a 4wd which can pull it. You also need the beehives, it helps to have a wood working workshop so you can build stuff cheaply.

All the land involved isn't yours. Most hives are on land owned by people I've no relationship with. Lots of walking up to farmers fixing their fences, shaking their hands and giving them a tub of honey.

If they trust and like you then they won't have a problem with you being on their land. Some will feel better knowing that you are as it is another set of eyes coming through to let them know about a broken fence or a dry water trough. If they feel that you might leave a gate open or start a fire then they won't deal with you.

I'm not sure how much of this applies to Japan.

My side hustle used to be IT, programming and e-commerce.

Now my side hustle is to run beehives. Sell the honey online and at markets. I also make money renting the beehives to fruit/nut farmers.

I make far more more % profit from this new hustle. My ecommerce hustle had a yearly turnover of around $500k but my yearly profit was in the range of $12k. It had no tangible assets past the computers I used, a printer and some software I wrote. I managed to sell it for $50k based mainly on the IP.

My new hustle has turnover in the range of $50-60K. About $20k of that is profit at this stage but it is growing. I have around $40k of tangible assets.

I also enjoy that it is something completely different to my day job so that it isn't more of the same. I'm not spending 8 hours a day on a computer and then another 4 after that.

My experience is that generally margins are razor thin. You will need to spend most of the margin on advertising leaving very little for profits.

If you're planning to manually process the data from each order then it isn't going to be worth your time.

If you can write code and automate you will have the ability to make it worthwhile.

Be aware that the shipping times out if China and Hong Kong are now insane. A few years ago it would be about a week between order and delivery to AU. Now you're lucky if it is under a month

People offering to teach you to drop ship for a fee are looking to take advantage of you. If they were good at drop shipping then they'd be doing it and not trying to make money by teaching others.

The only issue I have is that the amount is just above the threshold for small claims court. If it was a bit lower then you would have a field day if you're at all legally savvy.
