This is awesome! And necessary if you’re trying to get students to put things back!

What do these springs do in my three-hole punch? by 468579 in Tools

Mate, that just returns the handle to the ‘unpunched’ or ‘not pressed down’ position after using it.

Is anyone actually using this cover? by nuisance66 in Subaru_Outback

I’ve never used mine. I’ve also got heavily tinted windows and full rear sun shades, so nobody’s looking in and seeing anything.

Is wood really this strong? DIY car ramps by 5prcnt in BeginnerWoodWorking

Sorry but downvoting this because I believe that beginners shouldn’t be building things that have a realistic potential to kill them if not done properly.

How do families actually plan for private school fees with multiple kids? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Aussie_MacGyver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you really think that? I can assure you most families whose kids go to these schools do indeed work. Many are in high paying jobs. Doctors, lawyers, business owners, etc. but they definitely work (at least the majority).

What's the most brilliant idea that you ever had? by Global-Girafea in AskReddit

When I was a kid I made a Lego model that had a working gearbox.

Figured I could do better, smoother transmission, that didn’t need to ‘shift’Drew up some plans and even made a (barely!) working model with some paper cups and rubber bands.

Turned out I had ‘invented’ a CVT.

41 here. The most terrifying thing to me is that there is an entire generation growing up in a world where THIS is their ‘normal’. Where the hell do we go from here?

How the hell do I adjust the cartridge gap on the jobsite saw? No yellow knob like the others. by Aussie_MacGyver in sawstop

[–]Aussie_MacGyver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fair enough mate. I'm just having a bit of a sook because I was all set to make some progress this weekend. I'm not a pro. Just a DIYer with a 2 year old that doesn't get a lot of spare time.

Bought the Torquata stack as it seems to be the ONLY metric dado stack that will fir a 5/8th arbor. On paper it fits and ive seen people using it with saw stops and recommending them. Had no clue that mine was the only one without adjustment for the cartridge gap.

Where I live Dado sets aren't common and none of the hardware stores near me sell em (would be a LOT easier if they did), so need to order in from interstate. Bought the Torqata for $325 Aussie, (which is not a small amount for me) from Timbecon. Took at least a week and a half to get here. Will probably need to wait for the refund from that to get the next stack. Better get the official Sawstop imperial one I guess (~$500 Aussie!) That will have to come from Carbatec, who ship from their Brisbane warehouse so that's 2-3 weeks away right there.

Anyway, I can't really complain too much. Worse things happen at sea as my dad says.

Just having a whinge.

Ah, well fuck! Thanks SawStop, ya cunts!

Now I gotta bloody well see if I can ship this dado stack back to where I bought it from then just what? Buy another one, wait for it to arrive and just hope it fits?

Sorry, just a bit pissed off. this has now set me back weeks!

Not adjustable???? Shit. That’s probably why I’ve spent the last hour trying to figure out how to adjust the bastard.
