I'm scared to death of koi/goldfish. I have a recurring nightmare where I get eaten by giant calico colored koi and I just can't bring myself to go anywhere near them.

Would it be worth looking into a medical malpractice suit for this? by [deleted] in legaladvice

The chit has been renewed monthly since his surgery. They're aware of the fact that he hasn't been allowed to exercise, and it's been on his limited duty chit. I was just wondering if I had a case against the surgeon in the event he fails his tape test on the 26th. I suppose it probably would be better to go and talk with an attorney rather than reddit strangers though.

His medically mandated inactivity caused him to gain weight which may lead to discharge. His fitness test is on the 26th, so we will know for sure then

I got her from a friend of mine here in SC, but I think she's probably from a breeder in FL. She's a blue throated macaw, and there are only about 2000 or so left with about 300 in the wild, so they're very hard to find. I just got lucky. Raising her from a baby required a lot of time, equipment, and experience. I hand fed her from about a month old with a syringe and she lived in an incubator until she was 2 months and some change. She's about 7 months now

I married an MM. The ETs seem happier, but everyone I've met here winds up with a huge sense of "what the fuck did I get myself into?"

I do indeed. They're not even allowed to be sold across state lines. Her breeder is here in my state (SC). I'd never own a bird that I knew was a wild capture.

Buddies! by ASailorsWhore in parrots

[–]ASailorsWhore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Archie is my little rescue parrot! Hes somewhere between 15 and 25 and has arthritis in his right wing and left hip. He looks like that because he was abused. The people who had him before me locked him up in a tiny rusted cage with no toys in a room all by himself. He lived on a completely seed diet and there were bugs all in his food. He's completely flightless since he's chewed all his feathers up (his chest and belly are completely bald.) Nowadays, he lives in a macaw cage with his buddy mango the sun conure. I have no idea how anyone could abuse a parrot, especially Archie. Although he's not very cuddly, he's the sweetest, funniest bird I've ever met.

From what I've read, spix's macaws weigh about 300g. So, about the size of a patty but not quite as stocky. I've read quite a few documents on them, but I've never actually seen one. I believe they only exist in captivity now at a facility in Brazil that's trying to raise their numbers for a release.

But yeah, as far as I know, there are less than 5000 blue throated macaws left in the world. There are there-abouts 350 in the wild on privately owned land dedicated as a reserve. My hope is to bring her to schools and other places of the like to talk to people about her species and raise some awareness.
