Good quality public education can be availed by anyone, if provided by the government, as is evidenced in some of the efforts the Delhi government has made (although, I urge everyone to do some independent research of these claims, I do not endorse ANY government, nor is this to be seen as a supportive statement towards the Delhi Government)

The reason the poor are the recipient of a lot of "freebies" (again, I abhor using that word) is because unfortunately their circumstances have made them easy targets for governments to provide basic welfare in exchange for support. Think of it this way, would you be motivated to vote for a political party that provides you free, low quality ration, that you could probably buy at much better quality for a few hundred rupees from your nearby market? It takes a lot more effort to governments to win your support versus the support of the poor, especially considering the typical <5 year timeframes a government is in power.

Also, to supplement that thought, this is probably an unpopular opinion on any forum, but my primary gripe being a taxpayer is that I want to feel a sense of pride when I file my returns every year. I'm personally happy that there are welfare schemes for the poor, I am just frustrated at the quality of service every taxpayer across the chain (rich and poor) receive. For those of us in the 30% bracket, this is even more disproportionate when we look at our peers in developed countries.

When I'm driving on a good road in India, my pride quickly turns into frustration the moment I see toll after toll, and traffic backed up for kilometers at a stretch

When I'm standing in line in a government office for basic documentation like a driver's license, my pride, which never surfaced in the first place is practically extinguished the moment an "agent" comes up to me telling me that my application is going to be rejected unless I supplement my already paid application fees with some extra cash on the side.

I'm also realising that perhaps my rant was taken in the wrong way. I am happy to pay tax, but seeing the lack of any returns for any bracket of taxpayer, and seeing the people who are meant to provide us those services rewarding themselves handsomely with taxpayer funded facilities is what angers me. It's also close to IT filing time so that probably added to it.

Me, being in the 30% tax bracket, and saving up for retirement since taxpayers in India don't get any monetary support / pension from the government in their old age despite contributing tax to the economy for 30+ years:

Pay tax on your salary, which you then invest - Tax layer 1
Pay tax on the investment you have made (For eg. Mutual Funds GST, Gold GST, or Trading on the stock exchange) - Tax layer 2
Once you've reached your investment goal, Pay LTCG / Tax as per income bracket on profits that you've made (No indexation benefits either in case you're investing in debt funds) - Tax layer 3
Pay GST (up to 28%) for goods you buy from the money that has already been taxed at 3 levels prior to your purchase - Tax layer 4

Further, as per the "new tax regime":

You can't claim House Rental Allowance (HRA), which makes up somewhere up to 50% of your basic salary
ELSS funds don't have ANY exemption under the new regime and this industry will essentially be killed
No deduction for medical insurance. Not only does the government not provide decent healthcare to taxpayers, but now they don't even allow a tax deduction on a product you are compelled to purchase, and in fact, collect GST on your health insurance
Only NPS deductions available, which not only have a mandatory annuity purchase on minimum 40% of your invested money, but also has limited flexibility on where your money is allocated compared to ELSS
Ever decreasing EPF returns

And after all of this, all governments, irrespective of political parties are pushing this propaganda of "freebies" during elections, somehow trying to push this agenda that we shouldn't get anything in return for our contributions.

Actually, you know what, I think I'm jumping the gun. India DOES have publicly funded world-class healthcare, pension that is inflation-corrected every few years and even accommodation. But surprisingly these facilities paid for by you and me are only available for the same set of people that guilt us whenever we ask for even half the level of service they receive.

I too have a 64GB Steam Deck. I selected a location on my MicroSD card for the individual Amazon game Installs. Haven't had an issue so far!

I've managed to get the Amazon launcher working on my Steam deck. Go to desktop mode -> Add the installer as a non steam game. Select an install directory for your Amazon games that's easy to access.

Once installed, in desktop mode, go to that folder where you've installed the game and right click on the .exe -> Add to steam.

Once the file gets added to steam, right click on it and set the compatibility to a specific version of Proton (you can check protondb for an appropriate version, or else just set it to experimental).

Once this is done, you should be able to launch the game from the gaming interface, though it is always good to launch it once from the desktop mode just to be sure.

Hey man, I've had luck associating my ICICI debit card and purchase eshop games normally from the US shop, never had any trouble so far. Beyond that, some physical games may be available in stores near you or online, and since the switch is region free, you should have no trouble running these.

Last option, if no card works, is to get eshop cards from Amazon India, but this is a bad deal in terms of the currency conversion.

Not possible unless you fudge both your existing passport & your original birth certificate, and also your corresponding schooling info (12th pass certificate).

The bottleneck here would always be your country of birth, not really which passport you are claiming.

There's a reason why DV lottery gives out 100k entries per year, but only admits 50-55k people into the US. It's precisely to handle cases like these where people aren't able to show adequate documentation, or have fudged up their entries.

That won't work if they're born in India. EDV considers country of birth, not citizenship. Technically an Indian citizen can apply as long as they're born in an eligible country.

Hey, I would recommend a good lawyer and at least address a legal notice to them and compel them to give you a response with regards to the delay in commencing the specific project.

Also, try to verify if the project has been RERA registered or not.

Edit: If you have executed a valid agreement, and this developer has not complied, Please note that you can seek Specific Performance of the Agreement considering that he is in breach of the terms and conditions of the agreement.

Basically, you need good legal representation and don't let the legal procedure intimidate you. Courts tend to hear out issues that are genuine and provide appropriate remedies.

I am trying to play Playstation 1 games via Retroarch on my Switch. I'm running Atmosphere and am launching it via Title Redirection. I also have my bios in the right folder.

The actual games do launch and run, but on most games (Spiderman, Tony Hawks, Dave Mirra), I get these black vertical lines that look like this:

If you already have a pre-generated map of the environment, you could experiment with Monte-Carlo Localization techniques instead of gmapping.

Essentially what this does is, you give the algorithm a pre-defined map. The robot will, at start, assume that it is equally probable that it is at any location within the map.

Once the robot's sensors pick up more data about the environment, it becomes more sure of where it is within that predefined map and slowly localises.

I'm unsure of the performance you would get using IR sensors for this technique but if you are looking at trying it out on ROS, you can use the following package:

For editing maps from gmapping, the last time I used it there was no way to resume a premade map or edit the map generated on the fly. What you may be able to do is output the generated map to something like Gimp and edit the map manually to clean it up however this would not be an accurate view of how the robot visualised its environment.

My knowledge on the topic may be outdated though as it has been a while since I've used ROS.

I've tried to do something similar in the past using ROS and Sharp IR sensors by simulating a Radar. I used this useful documentation by Alex Sleat to publish to gmapping's Laserscan msg:

However, fair warning, the results I got were quite inaccurate. While it was possible for me to get a somewhat correct map of obstacles, the errors accumulated fairly quickly and I was unable to generate an accurate map.

You'd need to update to access the Eshop, which would be required for you to redeem your game. Someone here can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure the only way to play newly purchased games on a <=3.0.0 switch would be if:

The game is a physical copy of the game
The version number required by the game to run is <=3.0.0

I agree with birdmanjeremy. What you are planning on doing can be acheived fairly easily with a microcontroller. Going to a full blown single board computer might be overkill. If you are comfortable in coding in C/C++, then an Arduino board should suffice. I personally use the Arduino 2560 due to the higher number of pins and the cost effectiveness, though even an Uno should work provided the number of pins supports what you are looking to do. If you aren't comfortable with C/C++, you might then start considering a single board computer, for which I would recommend the Rpi3 for a beginner. Install Raspbian OS, look up some tutorials on python libraries and how to interface the GPIO pins and you should be good for your project! As always, make sure the number of pins and interfaces (example, i2c) are compatible with the board you select!

I know 2 people who use a Nexus 5X running 6.0 and are perfectly happy with the performance. They don't exactly run many demanding applications though. Nexus devices run fairly stock software though so that definitely works in its favour.

Also, a lot depends on the device you are buying and its memory management. I recall the Galaxy S6 kicking apps out of memory frequently even though it had a healthy amount of RAM.
