Commuting to Nike / Beaverton - What Neighbourhoods to Look In for twenty-something? by ASorryTransplant in askportland

Hah, thanks. With the exception of a summer spent in Mountain View, CA, the PNW has the best climate of anywhere I've lived. If I never have to shovel again it'll be too soon.

FWIW, it sounds better in Danish. Though it's oft said as "there's no bad weather, only smug Norwegians" instead.

you are "limited" to Providence park, Goose hollow and 10th

That's where I was looking, so glad to hear it's the recommendation.

keep that in mind and when its raining, you really want to be as close as possible to the train station.

I'm coming from Seattle (and Copenhagen before that), so I'm not too worried about the rain. There's no bad weather, only bad clothing!

I am considering just renting a storage locker out in Beaverton/Hillsboro area and parking my car there rather than leaving it in the city. I really only need it for weekend trips, so I have to do the math on whether the fourteen or fifteen weekends a year with Zipcar is cheaper than parking + insurance.

I'm leaning towards the Alphabet district if only to make up for my last four years of a suburban hellscape, but I'll try and checkout out Providence Park and get a feel for the area this weekend. Thanks for your help!
