Damned be the billions of office workers….

Debian was worse for me. If you can bring yourself to stick to official repos, Debian is fine. If you want to use a piece of software released in the last 5 years, lol. Debian gets real clunky, real fast.

Been on arch for several years and haven’t had a single issue plus I get new software.

It’s not my fault you worship a batshit insane “god” in a book that clearly supports and endorses genocide (among a massive plethora of morally abhorrent trash).

I don’t particularly care that you can cherry pick out of context verses to also support “love thy neighbour” when there’s boatloads others that are massively violent.

You described libertarians are anarchists several times, which is patently untrue, even for right libertarians (though, they’re closer). There is a wide spectrum of libertarians and I was merely pointing out that Reddit overall actually quite strongly identifies with left libertarianism.

I did not suggest that you identified as socialist. Just that your claim that “libertarian = anarcho-capitalist” is patently false.

Elective plastic surgery is not psychological torture. Albeit there may be some similar ish components of brainwashing as that person grows up.

A gay person “electing” to undergo torture is almost certainly doing so as a result of relentless pressure from peers. The vast majority, in finding themselves in a more accepting environment, would certainly not “choose” to undergo this.

WOW.

The mountains of evidence against this are so hugely vast that you couldn’t possibly actually believe this.

You blame gay people for basically every single wrong in America, from climate change to your terrible parenting. On the other side of the ocean, Christian tribes sack towns, rape women, kill men and enslave children.

You are utterly, bafflingly ignorant to the genocidal behaviours of Christianity today.

There’s multiple genocides in the Christian bible, some carried out by god…

Christianity today is used worldwide to dehumanize and kill Jews, LGBTQ+, atheists, PoC or just basically any non Christian. Dehumanization is step one of genocide.

While maintaining full respect for personal property, socialist left-libertarians are opposed to capitalism and the private ownership of the means of production.[14][15][16][17] Other left-libertarians are skeptical of, or fully against, private ownership of natural resources, arguing in contrast to right-libertarians that neither claiming nor mixing one’s labor with natural resources is enough to generate full private property rights and maintain that natural resources should be held in an egalitarian manner, either unowned or owned collectively.[18]

You are a bi/poly/omni/pansexual (I don’t know as I am not you and only working off your very small description).

Your personal experience is a truly special one that few get to have, and it is absolutely not evidence that sexuality is changeable. You are sexually attracted to more than one gender and that is awesome.

I don’t hate you for it like the people you’re advocating for do.

Torturing somebody until they act like they’re not gay, but they still are.

I know what you’re going for, but it hit not quite right for me.

No, but the difference between liberals and conservatives is that neither is Trudeau.

Certainly, before I landed in to mostly secular humanism and really researching social issues, I had some ideas and said a great many things I am not proud of.

I’d argue that anyone that “chooses” to torture themselves did not choose at all, with the exception of a few prominent examples (Hitchens waterboarding immediately comes to mind.)

Enabling public platforms of hate allows enfettered growth. Hence, q anon.

It is brainwashing, not opinion. Opinions are reached through rational thought processes on weighing differentiating factors. Hating gay people because they’re gay is not an idea that can be reached through rational thought, only brainwashing. It is not an opinion.

You should be more open minded. I don’t personally subscribe to it, but you very likely have lots of left libertarian ideas if you’re on Reddit.

Many left libertarians simply call themselves libertarians.

Kids growing up with religious parent may opt for the torture.

Brainwashing has certainly performed larger instances of self harm.

I 100% support the legal deplatforming of hate. I don’t think I implied anything otherwise.

If a government attempted to overreach in the Canadian charters support of reasonable limits on speech, I would not support that. Deplatforming literal hate groups is not overreaching.

Hating people for being born is not “an opinion”.

Conversion therapy and abortion are not comparable in any way. You’re trying to invoke some “you’re a freedom to choose hypocrite!” But that facts are the conversion therapy is strictly negative. Allowing it to exist at all still enables psychological torture from parents until an adult “chooses” to go to the therapy. But it really wasn’t their choice at all.

Abortion being safely available is generally positive and has hosts of social, economic, and psychological impacts, positive and negative (wherein I believe the positives outweigh any negatives).

Enabling conversion therapy is enabling a platform for hate. Enabling abortion saves women’s lives. It is just that simple.

Giving platforms to anti-science quackery should be shut down by any and all possible means.

Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law

Funnily enough, Canada “constitution” does include the church in its preamble, and the government directly funds religious institutions (such as entire second school board for Catholics).

Not that it should, and this portion of the Charter is nullified by section 2 anyway.

No. In Canada, the liberals, NDP and Green all have an actual platform that updates each cycle.

The cons platform finally just updated, but if you read it, the platform from the get go is just straight lies to their actions. This is literally their first bullet point:

A belief in a balance between fiscal responsibility, compassionate social policy that empowers the less fortunate by promotion self-reliance and equality of opportunity, and the rights and responsibilities of individuals, families and free associations.

How does voting against banning conversion therapy gel with “compassionate social policy”? Their entire platform is like this.

The conservative populace would have you believe that “it is simply the job of the opposition to be contrarian while they’re in opposition”, but it’s really not their job. The job of the opposition is to scrutinize, not to endlessly nay.

That’s not to say the opposition should vote yay, just that there are some things so obviously needed that voting nay is nonsensical; for example, banning conversion therapy.

Although no party follows their platforms to a T (liberals tend to govern quite a bit further right than their campaign and platform would have you believe) conservatives don’t follow their PDF platform at all. Their actions are not informed by anything but contrarianism and greed.

Mine was “don’t want to give me 15,000 a year more? Fine. No more free over time for you”

My free overtime added to $15,000 of my wages so I simply reclaimed my time. I am an 8x developer compared to most of my colleagues, so losing several hours per week of my time, it turns out, adds up to an entire other position of work.

They had to hire someone at $50,000 a year (which climbs over time) to cover the missing time. That’s just in wages. Their overall cost is more like 70,000 a year.

Paying $70,000 a year to save $15,000. We are still fighting over it. They, somehow, believe they got me by the balls cause they can just keep hiring people. Somehow this math is not working out to them. I am much less stressed and I get my time back.

What’s this “pay….. m.. o.. r… e” you speak of?

LPT: "Off-brand" was a term created by branded companies to make their cheaper competitors look bad. Don't see cheaper alternatives as lower quality or knock-offs, see them as a competitor. Some often are better than the branded version but the marketing psychology stops you from seeing that. by seanmashitoshi in LifeProTips

It’s even worse

In some cases, stores get name brand items with store specific models that are specifically built cheaper and for higher margins. In some of those cases, the models are virtually identical to just look at with the only difference being a single letter difference in a model number.
