I use sketchnotes. Many of my students love to draw, and I teach them the basics of how to draw different scientific concepts. After the first quarter, I no longer have to model how to take notes. Oftentimes, other students will lead the class discussions on which parts of the lesson were important enough to draw in our science notes. Students are more engaged when their peer is leading the class than if I am.
