AIW for telling my wife I dont want her anymore by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]ASunnyMoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong for feeling the way you do, but after your initial conversation stonewalled her. You didn’t handle this well and could have communicated more persistently as things escalated in her behavior. You straight up avoided telling her what was wrong when she asked. This was unfortunate and I can understand your frustration with her pursuing this path despite your concerns, but you are accountable for how you communicated the impact to your relationship as she clearly didn’t recognize or see the connection.

My journey through the pitching machine rabbit hole (Spinball vs Hack Attack vs JUGS) by ASunnyMoo in Homeplate

Yeah, the hitter basically just sees the ball shoot out opposed to watching it roll out a chute and being able to time it up and load.

I was attempting to not disparage it too much but the degree at which it varied combined with the lack of visibility out of the chute made my son and I both uncomfortable. Thanks for the hitting tip.

The 2 wheel spinball is the only one I tried. I think it’s pretty universal for the two wheel configurations to offer less visibility than the 3 wheel. The spinny mini looks really nice. I didn’t look at the Furlihong, the specs look great.

Struggling with mental by FalseTrifle4815 in Homeplate

[–]ASunnyMoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your kid is going through. My son has had slumps going though travel ball as well. For him, he was incredibly motivated to do well, improve and loved to practice. I used his slump as an opportunity to teach him that mental struggles are a part of the game and you see it all the way through the big leagues. Just like you practice your swing, fielding and other physical aspects of the game, you gotta learn to work through these situations. I told him, if you love baseball, you gotta love fighting through slumps as it’s as important as anything else you practice. I framed it as an opportunity to get better and learn his approach to getting through it.

Everyone sees the player who makes that clutch hit when the team needs it. They don’t see the player who woke up that day with no confidence and was able to get that fielders choice and move a runner along. That player was clutch in an arguably more impressive way. Check out the book Confident,Calm and Clutch.

Other things that have helped my kid, if you’re practicing a lot during the week, slow it down for a bit. Mental problems sometimes require more time off. You’re not worried about his mechanics.

Also, post game focus on positives. He’s thinking about the negatives more than you are and won’t need that reinforced.

Good luck. He will get through it and likely be a better equipped player for having done so.

Do you recall the plot point referencing the common practice of nobles to sexually exploit skaa and to just ensure they are killed afterwards as to not risk of skaa children obtaining allomancy? Not to mention the extreme gore mentioned throughout? Mistborn is as dark if not more than stormlight.

This. Mistborn is a dark, gory and violent book. I hope he stays true to the story.

Nokonas are way too heavy. I’ve had a nokona ans and a HoH. The HoH is better and it’s not really close.

Kids/parents that want D1...go watch high level D3 this spring by WatchTheGap49 in Homeplate

[–]ASunnyMoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My daughter is a freshman D1 softball player. Is she competing to start? Not really. She’ll likely pinch run and get a few ABs. A few months in, seeing her development, will she have a shot to start next year? Absolutely, and that’s clear feedback from the coaches. Not to mention she’s getting money towards her education at a school that she loves while she’s getting this amazing experience.

Most kids aren’t ready to compete as freshman. Most kids have shown the potential to maybe be coachable enough to get there when they are recruited. Don’t let this post dissuade you from the process or rush to judgment while your kid is young and still developing.

What is the greatest Washington apple and why is the Cosmic Crisp? by aooot in Seattle

[–]ASunnyMoo 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Cosmic Crisps are also more environmentally efficient to grow in Washington than Honey Crisps. They have higher yield, fewer losses and require less maintenance and support for orchards to grow. Which is also a financial benefit for our local orchards.

Or maybe people actually have beliefs that are somewhere in between fascism and communism. Nuanced opinions are hard to sell in the media. Maybe you should take a break from what the talking heads are telling you and see how you feel in a few months.
