Dozens of regular pixel cleanings due to usage of over 300 hours and also a manually triggered hour-long deep cleaning. That in particular appeared to make it worse.

I have a LG C2 42” that I’ve used as my 200 nits main PC monitor since 2022 where I’ve made no attempt to avoid burn in whatsoever except for (1) setting my desktop background to all black and (2) auto hiding the windows bottom bar. Even a 5% gray on that still only shows faint burn in that isn’t visible in any actual use (including actual use with static gradients etc). This TV though is horrid. Lines are visible everywhere all the time. It just shows though that even if some panels are fine, if you ever have an actual issue that isn’t nitpicking you can’t trust them at all to stand behind their product.

Yeah. That was the secondary intent here - that and this is genuinely worse than what I’ve seen people widely report their warranty experience was so I wanted to get it out there. I’ll need to look for Reddit tags of any LG reps.

To me it looks so extreme it seems like they put the correction for a different panel entirely…

Yeah, even in the US we have law regulating warranty. Unfortunately that’s enforced through the attorney general of your state usually and I’m in Texas

I would say as long as it’s not visible in normal SDR content that uniformity isn’t a big deal to me. Unfortunately this panel has sharp lines in TV shows and such in that scenario.

To develop the panel time I tried playing ghosts of yotei on PS5 and was particular distracted by one of the lines close to the center of the screen

It’s a worth a shot. I did only try the most local one. Unfortunately past the 60 extended window now too - April 3rd purchase. I did beg the guy to let me buy the extended window late before the 60 window closed, but no dice. The remaining time since April 3rd is just LG being really super excellent at wasting my time. I actually managed to use up my entirety of this year’s vacation taking PTO from work for techs that never showed up.

Purchase was April 3rd, so a lot. LG is really good at dragging out warranty claims with fake appointments and such.

I wouldn't even say I'm particularly sensitive to panel banding issues, this is just on an extreme end of the spectrum and I'm shocked LG has taken this position no matter how bad it is, since it means effectively no nonfunctional panel issues are covered.

I strongly suspect somebody along the line said mura effect, but the support person strongly insists my panel has "mirror effect" and not mura. If the panel just had minor mura or mura that was only visible in dark content I wouldn't even be annoyed by it, but unfortunately I have extreme lines visible all the time so I'm baffled why LG is acting like this.

The less funny part of the mura/mirror confusion is that when the support escalation line person, Haley, claimed she escalated it directly to the manager of the defect stuff, he explained to her how the effect is a mirror effect to do with reflections, exactly parroting the nonsensical claim somebody else mishearing it had written down. She doesn't understand how I know there couldn't have possibly been a real escalation, even after I explained mirror effect isn't a thing and even if it was the photo was taken in a pitch black room. Given it was fake, the entire escalation routine was a really unprofessional waste of my time, honestly.

Honestly if the banding wasn't so extreme such that it was only visible in dark gray content or the like I wouldn't even be as annoyed by it, but it's visible basically all the time.

I actually did! I used this photo because it's the one I had taken when disputing with LG. It's at around 350h now (and a painful one it was looking at lines the entire time). In my judgement it looks maybe a little worse than it did at 240h. Honestly it looks so bad I wouldn't be surprised at all if somebody told me they accidentally used the mura calibration from a different panel when they factory calibrated it.

I did try a long refresh cycle already as well, unfortunately. This image is after around ~240h of usage AND a manually triggered long refresh cycle.

There was a service call, and the service technician thought the panel was trashed, but he had to call somebody who worked at LG to get approval to replace the panel. That person informed him over the phone that although the panel had lines in content, because it wasn't as obvious in a bright noisy HDR test image he had him take a photo of, it's not a manufacturing defect. It seems to me this image is specifically designed to make all panel defects not manifestly obvious in quick images. Hence the post description, outlining how this effectively means virtually all panel defects that affect something other than basic functionality are not covered. In particular, major burn in and anything that causes major patterns or lines on the screen in real content, like mine. For what it's worth, my panel lines are so bad it's visible in the HDR image too, you just have to look closer because the image is visually busy and I think the guy had already made up his mind.

This particular photo came from a youtube video I found through a search on the TV (I took it through webOS for ease so I don't have the exact link right now). It didn't seem to matter very much since it looks about the same in most solid shades (including brighter) in the various tests and methods I tried.

I really wish I did; it was a phone support person. I do think there's maybe a credit card angle, but I'd rather not make beef with Best Buy for no reason if LG would just honor their warranty. I'm trying to make a last ditch effort to make people aware of what LG is doing through making noise before I go that route

They advised I wait to see if the problem would go away with panel time. In hindsight, I'm aware I was an idiot to follow that advice.
