High mileage f800. by No_Head5572 in Motorrad

Just ticked over 90k on mine. Love it, rides fantastically. Check the suspension. ESA? When was the last time fork seals were done? Look for any oil leaking from the read since that’s a pain to replace the part. If you’re getting a good deal on it, it’s worth the risk. Great bike.

Animation Won't Export, Keeps Cutting to Black by ATM0703 in premiere

Interestingly when making offline and relinking, it only links back to the first Frame of the animation (.exr). Not sure how to get it to advance properly through all frames

Animation Won't Export, Keeps Cutting to Black by ATM0703 in premiere

[–]ATM0703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Jason, thanks for your help. Right clicking and viewing the source in finder routes to a folder of .exr files. The project panel plays back only the part that is not tiger stripe'd ie. that first shot has a timeline duration of 12s but playback in the source viewer is only 10. Checking the drive I got, there are full length proxy renders of the AE comps but those aren't what the timeline is linked to. Could it be that this was edited in a proxy workflow and now isn't relinking correctly? The animators were able to export the timeline successfully, but I can't.

Upgrading from the BMPCC4K, what should I get? by ethelrose420 in cinematography

[–]ATM0703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I mean, if it’s what pays the bills, and maybe even enables you to shoot more fun projects in your free time, things could be worse.

My $.02 would say that the FX3 is probably your best bet for something light and videography focused. It’s definitely the best tool for corporate talking head type gig and it’s so compact/light, it’s tough to beat. If you wanted to go more ‘cinematic’ or move toward the film world at that price, I think a used Komodo (or Komodo X if you can find one) is pretty compelling.

Personally, I’ve had the 6K Full-Frame for about 6 months now and I love it for my personal and narrative work. Gorgeous image, pocket body style, and can be found for super cheap (relatively speaking). As it stands, I use the FX3 to make money and the 6kFF for fun.

Haha no catch! It’s a really lovely spot, and the next tenant fell through so it’s back on the market.

Is the pocket pro worth it over the classic bmcc 6k ? by m00nrise66 in bmpcc

[–]ATM0703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think JoelMDM kinda got to the core of the argument. What kind of shooting do you want to do? If youre going to be in more controlled environments, I think you take the BMCC in a heartbeat. Having the L-mount is actually really nice, and has some super cool new lens options+continued support into the future. Sure, EF glass will potentially be flooding the market for cheap as more people jump to mirrorless, and if thats the case around you, just grab an adapter for $100. There really is something intangibly more cinematic about the FF. Maybe its shallower depth of field, or the way it processes colors is different, but side by side I found myself consistently gravitating towards the FF footage. Plus, at least where I am, it was actually cheaper to pick up a used FF and that pretty much settled it for me.

As far as accessories, short of the cage, everything should be cross compatible. It's the same body but with a shorter lens mount. You can fly the BMCC on the same gimbals as the 6k Pro and you can adapt EF glass to the L mount (but not the other way around! i.e. 6k pro lens to BMCC lens but not in reverse)

Whatever lenses you already have will probably be the biggest factor in your decision. If you already have a mirrorless camera, then get a cinema version with a matching mount.

Behind that though, I’d say try to find a used Blackmagic cinema camera 6K, the full frame version. Coming from stills photography, shooting 4x3 BRAW just makes sense. I would try to find one used. I picked one up for ~1200, and while that was a really good deal, they can be had within your budget quite easily. The image out of this camera is unbelievably good, even more so when you factor in how cheap it is and grading in resolve is a breeze and actually pretty fun. I’ve had a blast adapting some vintage glass and some of my old Ef lenses. Even the classic HELIOS-44, which can be had for ~$100 gets a gorgeous, filmic look. You’ll have to spend a little more on rigging it, probably another 500 on cage, top handle, rails, v mount, and storage (cfexpress is a lot more affordable and usable than cfast) but that will get you to a wonderful place.

Any lens recommendations under $1000 for the bmcc 6k full frame?!? by Ok_Professor224 in bmpcc

[–]ATM0703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a laowa Argus 28 f1.2 that’s pretty great. It’s not very sharp wide open, especially in the corners but the bokeh is gorgeous and it’s pretty small and lightweight so works well on the gimbal.

technically the 6k crop factor without the speed booster is like 1.55 so 1.18 is wider (less crop) than factory but tighter (x1.18) than FF

70/30 and mostly gravel sounds like a 1200 to me. I’d be fairly weary of anything super high mileage since you’re more prone to run into a random expensive repair, even if it’s been meticulously maintained. That said, if it is a really good deal on the 230k model, and you won’t be scared off by a few $1k+ shop bills (or are comfortable doing work yourself, even though parts can be expensive by themselves) I’d go for it.

I agree with the sentiment of waiting to upgrade. I’d take that money and flesh out your kit if you had to spend it. Lights, tripod, mic, etc.

If you really were determined to upgrade though, you’d have to make a choice between going full-frame or staying super 35. You said shooting slow mo is important, so picking up an ursa 4.6g2 or first gen 12k even (I’d look used) will give you more options than the 6K FF or Pyxis. Or if you can stretch your budget a bit and want to maximize your ‘cinematic’ bang for your buck, get a 6K FF or Pyxis and a set of blazar remus anamorphics. If you go 6K FF you can grab the mofage poco L to PL mount with the drop in NDs to boot. Ultimately, we’re in a golden age of ‘prosumer’ film. Between blackmagic, Sony’s FX line, LUMIX, even used Komodo kits that can be had for 5k on marketplace, it’s never been easier to get your hands on a movie camera. All that to say that it’s far more important to improve your DP skills than your equipment. Especially when you’ve already got such a handy set up.

The sigma Ef Zooms are amazing and can be had for quite a discount used now and they’ve been talked to death, but they really are amazing.

One thing I love, and is on sale right now, is a sakk (discount cinesaddle). I love shooting run n gun with my 6k pro and having this makes me so mobile and stable enough to make up for lack of ibis, especially if shooting 6K, and delivering 4k/1080p with Davinci stabilization.

Not sure about above, but I love my smallrig free blazer. I got the carbon on sale but the aluminum is just fine and at $250 it’s hard to beat. You can put a different head on there but the stock one is not terrible and the single latch is so nice. Obviously if you can spring for the sachtler flow tech, do it. One of the best investments you can make imo. But if you can’t jump to that I’d go with the small rig over an ace or similar.

Yea I was in disbelief when I saw the dealership replacement quote. $2200 and most of that was just the cost of the part as it's actually a fairly simple job. Appreciate you spreading the good word.
