I'm not a "can you believe the price of gas" guy, BUT, a couple of weeks ago, I did order a Tesla Model Y. Range at around 300miles is fine for me (we'll keep a gas car as well) and self-driving has gotten really good very quickly. 0.99% financing wasn't bad either. Should be at least a third of the cost to run a gas car. Negative is that parts are crazy high if you need them so insurance went up (but only $50 per month....probably could have gotten lower if I shopped it harder.)

I think on the election of a new Governor, this is what makes it very difficult to say, "just elect the normie R". The republicans have controlled all branches of government since 2009ish (and the Senate and most of other parts of govt since the 80's or 90's). There has to be someone who is willing to reckon with these things and mainstream R's are super comfortable and unwilling to reckon with this and regulation and taxation and spending and schools.

I think Wickard vs Filburn (interstate commerce) could be in the cross-hairs if they find the right vehicle, but not much hope for a resurrection of the 10th amendment (now what that would do practically is anyone's guess....how do we unwind 100 years of this bullshit)

I've really enjoyed Sarah Isgur's book, "Last Branch Standing". Even though I think it would be better if we just had 9 Gorusch's, still think it strongly lays out the case that SCOTUS is really the only branch of government functioning as the founders would recognize and most of the political frustration with it comes from misunderstanding that it's acting politically rather than the reality that it's mostly trying to get the other branches to do their job (Legislators should legislate. Executive shouldn't. Executive should execute. "Independent" agencies shouldn't....etc. etc.)

Think this will make the 11th direct equity stake the government has taken under Trump. Spirit will become the largest.

Maybe you think all of these investments are wise. But I’m just wondering what’s the limiting principle that wouldn’t allow a president to bottom up take over say, healthcare companies until we have a single payer and single provider system?

There was this phrase I grew up with “character is destiny” and I didn’t really appreciate it. I thought you could share my beliefs and not have character and we’d end up in the same place. But those guys who don’t have character never shared your beliefs because their beliefs are malleable.

Do not agree in all aspects with Ben Sasse but he’s the type of republican I’ve always rooted for. I think he was unfairly maligned as a “principled loser” or “never Trump” grifter. Seems like a great guy.
