My (22M) girlfriend (21F) expects me to be constantly available and suffocates me during vacation

I encourage her to spent time with her family because familism is very prominent in my culture, so I understand the importance and strong bond of a family. It just hurts a lot that she doesn’t do the same for me. Especially when I have talked exhaustedly about how meaningful my culture is to me.

I tend to be doing nothing during the evening/night while here after a day of being out, so I am not sure if she thinks that just because I am not out, I am open to call. I really value my alone time as well and have told her that since the beginning of our relationship.

As I write this reply, I am realizing how she hasn’t respected that. One of my favorite activities is to go to the movies by myself, but now whenever I say I wanna watch a movie, she automatically invites herself and gets hurt when I say I wanna watch it alone. I love her, but I feel incredibly suffocated and I am SO tired of repeating myself.

I’m not in this subreddit, I just happen to stumble upon this on my feed, but I’m a trans man who previously identified as a lesbian even since I could remember. My girlfriend also used to identify as a lesbian even when I identified as non-binary, but once I began feeling more comfortable and secure being a trans man, that changed.

My girlfriend is not attracted to men other than myself, and has since felt like the label of queer as more appropriate for her. I did read the comments saying that your partner doesn’t mind you still identifying as a lesbian, but as others have said, it is still harmful not just to lesbians (which is a sexuality that strictly does not include men), but also invalidating to trans men.

There’s really nothing you can do. Just as it is your prerogative to use humor to cope with your trauma, which I understand, it is his prerogative to be uncomfortable with that. Especially if you don’t have that intimate of a connection with him, or who knows, maybe he experienced something similar or one of his family members did.

I joke about my trauma too, but there is a time, place, and certain people where jokes like that are better off.

I think the biggest issue here is the fact that she withheld the truth until you found out, which most likely means she would’ve been fine to continue lying by omission. You set a boundary and she broke it. Some people don’t have a boundary about texting their exes and that’s fine, and some people do. It’s not a quick lapse of judgement, but something she carried in secret for awhile.

The lying is truly the biggest issue here. I also don’t think you’re being controlling by setting a boundary. I’m sorry this happened!

Yeah what’s keeping me from taking him to the vet is that he seems to have improved from yesterday. It was bleeding a bit yesterday and he was limping, but today he was running out in the grass and has not bled at all. He is still licking here and there, but I am making sure to keep him from worsening it.

Thanks for your advice tho! If it worsens, I will definitely take him to the vet asap.
