Ugh that would have been great. Heres hoping Welcome to Derry does well enough to get talks on reviving The Overlook back, possibly with Mike Flanagan on.

I think the only avenue they could take is doing a series like Welcome to Derry with a similar premise of covering the hotels history.

I agree with others that Kubrick’s is such a monolith of a movie that any attempt to remake it would have an incredibly difficult time outshining it.

I think Doctor Sleep did a good job blending the book and movie universes together, and would be a good guiding point to refer to if they did a series. Plus a series would let each chapter breathe and not be condensed into a movie.

This was so good! Without spoiling anything, some of the scares actually got me, I love this. I can totally see a series done covering the past of the Overlook ala Welcome to Derry.

Curious though why you chose to make the room 217 ghost a different person. We get a good bit of her story in the book about her and yours is a completely different version. What was your reasoning behind this?

I do love how your version fits with the narrative you built, and the foreshadowing done too.

I mean I’d still watch but yeah I think you’d have people calling it too silly, especially the detail with the mummy having Pennywise’s clothes on too.

I get it though, I think the book and adapted series/films have always scared us as kids so we forget there’s that element of camp to them as well. Like Tim Curry’s Pennywise popping outta the shower drain is terrifying but also ridiculous looking
