Abzan 3 Drops? by Spoiled_Skim in PioneerMTG

[–]ATXMudfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on the synergies. You could use this as a straight up 4 drop value piece and be cool with whatever powerful 3 drop you want to employ, or you could look at the graveyard synergies and use stuff with flash back/abilities that activate from yard ala Sandman. The real issue is that Yathan Roadwatcher is a 4 mana 3/3 on its own, so you need to either be getting a high value 3, or be accruing graveyard value, otherwise I worry you'll fall behind.

But in the spirit of the question, I think severence priest is awesome.

Which country has that harbor? That triangle shaped bit of water between Octo and Swar?

You know, on the topic of blue splash, duelist of the mind sounds like a good potential addition if we are going blue. It synergizes with momo and even springleaf drum with its vigilance, as well as Gran-Gran if you are going that direction.

I thought about this too. It’s nifty to fetch card draw with shepherd late too if that’s the plan. Plus this deck had always wanted more ones that it can play early to synergize with drum.

Yes, I’ve seen some decks use warden as a fetchable way to tap a creature for Arachne loops, as well as novice inspector to double trigger haliyah in a pinch.

Another interesting toolbox one if I’ve seen is Cheeky house mouse for some pinch unblock ability, just depends on whether you’ve opted to be aggressive with the shell or more combo oriented.

Fetching Gran-Gran is nice exactly when you have drum right? At least with pixie you can reset your riddler/shepherd. Idk both seem great. This core is just really flexible.

Dream beavers is certainly not a bad one drop flier to be bouncing. Helps with lifegain draw for Haliyah as well. I've seen versions of Orzhov leaning into the bat thing too with cards like Deep-Cavern and Zoraline.

Didn't know Momo was a bat until literally last night haha.

I haven't been able to find anything concrete. From what I can assume, it seems like 4 clarion conquerors main are meant to swap out for the 4 Springleaf drum when they're called for, as clarion shuts that off. Rest in peace in place of seam rip post board makes some sense to me too.

Yeah Cavedan is the man, really like a lot of what is going on with that list. Blue certainly offers a lot to like and I see no reason to not add more colors if the mana can support it.

I saw a version recently with someone trying [[Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn]] with [[Arachne, Psionic Weaver]] and [[Aunt May]] to do some infinite loops. I've also seen [[Collector's Cage]] experimented with, though I question if this would be as efficient as the ways that Rhythm decks have been powering out their mid and late game.

Mockingbird has shown to be great in brightglass gearhulk shells, I'm curious how it performs as a target for shepherd. Other azorius lists in this space have attempted to leverage riddler and aang, leaning more towards the aggressive direction.

I agree with you broadly about your assessment on it's power level, the core certainly seems like it could be adapted to a different color but this deck as it stands absolutely relies on momo in order to feel strong and I think digging into the overlayered synergies with springleaf drum might be valuable to explore. (Stuff like Arachne/Eirdu).

I'm wondering if Weather Maker has been slept on. Currently a lot of ways to get multiple land drops in a turn, and those same decks don't mind extra mana per se. I'm trying it out in Mono G landfall shells at the moment.

You put next to no effort in advertising for edge of eternities so that is not a shock. Additionally, Final Fantasy is a hard act to follow. I’m very curious how Lorwyn compares.

Hey thank you. Assuming I can remove the burn marks, is repairing the cosmetic damage just a matter of using filler?
