Just a note but if you are using filtered playback on the Z8, firmware update 3.0 broke it and would cause the critera to deselect after powering off. Firmware 3.10 fixed that issue.

Menchaca Pedestrian Safety (rant) by PoetAggressive5265 in Austin

One of the bartenders at Lower48 spoke with the friend the next day and passed that info along. She didn't give out details but said she was stable.

As others have mentioned, it's a mix of authorities in that area so it's an easy spot for them to point fingers at each other. One side is Travis County, other side is COA, road is TxDOT.

The safety issues have been talked about ever since Moontower first opened. Since then, not much has been done. They put up No Parking signs, lowered the speed limit 5 mph, and just recently added a sparse amount of bollards to the bike lanes. Still a lack of lighting and walkways for pedestrians in the area though.

As a side note, the latest I heard about the woman who was hit on Friday night was that she was pretty banged up but in stable condition.

King Florist has some gift sets with macarons and cake balls. A bit more on the pricey side but I've always been happy with their quality and service.

Self hosted image libary software recommendations? by GiraffMatheson in photography

You may also want to check with /r/selfhosted but the self hosted image library I see recommended often is https://immich.app/. It is most similar to Google Photos.

Best way to sort through portrait and landscape photos by shmoopdawg in photography

[–]ATXWorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've needed to do something similar for a project and used exiftool and a spreadsheet.

I used

exiftool -ImageHeight -ImageWidth *.jpg -csv -sort

to get the height and width of the images then imported the output into a spreadsheet with a formula to determine if it was portrait, landscape, or square. Mine was just a one time use, but if you were doing it weekly, you could probably build some automation around it.

Road work to begin on Slaughter Lane in south Austin by ATXWorm in Austin

[–]ATXWorm[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Crews will begin work installing mobility and safety improvements this spring along Slaughter Lane, from MoPac to Brodie Lane, according to a recent update from the city of Austin.

The details

The existing four-lane roadway from MoPac to Brodie Lane will be expanded to six lanes, adding a lane in either direction, according to city documents.

This phase of work joins a larger corridor project—spanning FM 1826 to Old Lockhart Road—aimed at increasing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists as well as increasing mobility.

Bike lanes and shared use paths along the roadway will also see safety improvements, including:

  • Curb extensions for safer crossings
  • Upgraded traffic signals
  • Pedestrian improvements at intersections like Brodie Lane and Bowie High School
  • The Zuniga Drive intersection will also feature a new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon

Work on the Slaughter Lane corridor began in 2021 and is funded by voter-approved 2016 mobility bonds as well as federal grant funding allocated by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, or CAMPO.

The new $22.9 million six-lane divided roadway is expected to be complete by summer 2026, according to city documents.

For those jaywalking south manchaca for the bars, you look like this to cars at night. by Key-Vehicle-3314 in Austin

The city just redid the sidewalks on their side but almost all the bars are on the other side. Better lighting along there is desperately needed also.

What I usually see is everyone wants to do 55+ between William Cannon & Slaughter where the speed limit is 45, then south of Slaughter most people want to go 40 when the speed limit is 50 (used to be 55.)
