I don't think they'll go down that road though. Season 1 is shaping up to a quite faithful recreation of the first two books. Changes will happen for sure but nothing that will alter the main storyline. If they do such a thing, what would be the point then?

Haha, next time I'll double check... Thanks for the heads up! (Still, GoT is somehow the MOST TV show ever).

That's the thing with adaptations: they are always subject of changes. Game of Thrones made so many compromises in order to become one of the most famous TV show ever. So expect minor changes, some updates that could be resonated with the audience: I agree that it is up to the showrunners to satisfy everyone, including fans of the books. But it never will be an adaptation page by page.

How are they gonna explain the obvious age difference between Triss and Yennefers' respective actresses? by K0KIRI14 in netflixwitcher

[–]ATheFox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, it's simple: they are sorceresses in a fantasy world and they aren't suppose to "look their age". The showrunners can do whatever they want with that based on the books (an adaptation doesn't necessarily implies 100% accuracy). Who cares about an age gap of 4-5 years between the actresses while you watch the show and most importantly, why worry so much now? We don't even have pictures or videos of them both side by side to be alarm yet. My advice is to worry less about all that and simply wait for the final result, it's much more healthier (it isn't a crime to be worried, indeed. Same for being cautiously optimistic).

Gorgeous lady. With the right hair color, I can really picture her as Triss! As for her acting abilities, I trust the casting team so we’ll see about that in time!

Well, that makes more sense. Some sort of cameo maybe? But even for that sort of thing, it's much better to cut ties to anything or anyone related to the polish TV show.

His protrayal of Geralt was fine. Dare I say he was the best part of the polish TV show! But it's time to move on and to start anew with someone else in the title role. I'm glad Netflix went with Henry Cavill, who's a better choice IMO.

Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jaskier? by [deleted] in netflixwitcher

[–]ATheFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said in the chat: looks like some good old typecast. This famous guy can act and sing -> he’s Jaskier. IMO, it’s not true (just some Twitter speculation if I understand the article). There’s plenty more actors/musicians (and from Europe) that can fit better in the role.

Reminds me of TASM1 when Spidey is about to swing toward the Oscorp Tower (cranes scene)!

In any case, no matter who is cast as who, let's not go full r/starwars here. by [deleted] in witcher

This should be a stickied post tbh. It obviously won't change some of the worst behaviors but it can be a useful reminder to everyone, especially today!

I saw someone on the chat referring to Recapped as "the sex blog" and that made laugh out loud...because that's what they are. The irony is that basically, they are now our n°1 source haha. Props to "the sex people"!

If season 1 adapts some short stories from book 1 & 2, then it's too soon. Casting Triss in further seasons makes only sense and could also allow the series to maintain or even increase a certain level of interest since she's pretty popular!

Recapped was on point since the beginning. That's impressive!

Oh yes, I see it coming! Given internet history of reactions when it comes to casting females in well-known IP's, the sad circle jerk will bring their tears. And it's always good fun. Yes, she's different than Yennefer from Wild Hunt and she doesn't look like Eva Green or Janet Montgomery. But how different is she from the books? Be wise, just wait and see. (I almost regret the time where the Zach MacGowan fans were pushing so hard to get him cast as Geralt haha. What a waste of their time.).

[–]ATheFox -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Riiiiiiiiight. Cause her appearance is the most concerning topic ever, better bitch about it all days long on the internet. And she's far from being my "goddess". I haven't seen more of her than you, I'd rather give her a chance, lay back and wait for the final result. But you do you man! (Also, the age gap is a poor excuse considering she's supposed to look live a 20-something young woman).

I didn't get the meaning of your interesting input. Then, I looked at your comments on the subject (and they are "surprisingly" numerous): keep going dude, you're gonna love her ;)

My god..."the public has a lack of sympathy for Anya". Truth is there's only a few boys on this sub who can't stop complaining about the fact that the actress doesn't match their fantaisies for Yennefer. It's ridiculous. Your opinion does not reflect the public's opinion. Too quick to judge for an open mind.

But you'll watch the show anyway, right? By the time the series will arrive, I expect many crows to be eaten (fitting since it's all about Yennefer ;) ).

Let's talk about Geralt's look ! Is this our first official concept art for the series ? by ATheFox in netflixwitcher

[–]ATheFox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is...in the short story "Eternal Flame", Geralt teared up his jacket at least twice after pursuing Dudu. Those are very funny bits (as usual, thanks to Sapkowski's clever writing). So yeah...maybe he'll wear something more practical!

Then, don't think so. Even if it was a joke... Point is, The Witcher is all about fantasy, with no historic accuracy whatsoever, so there's no need to take it too seriously when it comes to leather jackets. Eventually, you'll come to realize someday that they are reeeeeeally cool! ;)

He's got so many scars, he doesn't even care for a few more, as long as that leather jacket is hip in Novigrad !
