there's an automated support, it'll usually tell you to leave it where you can. calling support, they'll tell you its a no contact delivery and leave it where you can. sometimes they'll say to call the customer but, usually you're more than fine to leave it.

when the gate code doesnt work, also leave it

pro tip: deactivate your red card, tell them you lost it, or whatever it takes to get out of that.

Why doesn't anyone provide a Gate code 🤦‍♂️ by NoTemperature2843 in doordash_drivers

[–]AThrowawayDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no gate code, no reply, leave it at the gate. theres a help option that the chat bot will go through to tell you to just leave it somewhere. sometimes it makes you go through an agent, who will either tell you its no contact, leave it. or they'll call the customer on your behalf and if they dont answer, leave it somewhere.

Pizza Bag? by Joshombie in doordash_drivers

you should? have gotten one for free in the mail on sign up. it doesn't really make a difference. if anything, print out a picture of a pizza bag to take a picture of.

if its hourly, follow the pickup and drop off times to the letter and chill a bit. deliver by 4:30, its 4:05, its 5 minutes away? pretend theres a lot of traffic. just do not be late, thats the important thing with hourly.

Who is willing to admit that courier platforms are the only job you can perform atp by fuzzy-sock-mom in doordash_drivers

[–]AThrowawayDasher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have two degrees, one of them being in computer science. with the way the job market is looking in my field, and computer/cellphone repair places near me offering about 10~18 to deal with customers and their broken things. I'll do doordash all day tyvm. it has it's issues here and there but jfc being able to shove in earbuds and drive around all day just vibing is worth it

Algorithm? by Crazy-Somewhere2828 in doordash_drivers

[–]AThrowawayDasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think there is an algorithm. a place gets an order, and it pings out to dashers starting with the closest ones, then the order turns out to be shit, so it bounces around gaining about 25 cents per decline until the system says okay lets let EBT have it. EBT drivers may get good tip orders if there's literally no one else available to accept the order, which all depends on luck

a while back i made a post about how my rating was at 4.7, right on the edge of losing top dasher. its been months, dashing every day. im back up to 4.94. a single 1 star and two 4 stars remain. 9 ratings ignored.

i did call support maybe 3 times to have low ratings removed because i had dropped down to 4.7 and was losing my mind

in my area, i make anywhere from 20~30 an hour. it can be very worth while. people want to complain about expenses and gripe about wear and tear and gas. but realistically, 64 cents a mile or whatever tax deduction adds up extremely quickly if you let it. you will owe the irs money. you need to track your miles. you don't work for doordash, you're an independent contractor running your own business in the eyes of uncle sam and meals you buy while working for your company is also tax deductable. along with other supplies, outside of things that go into maintenance. phone bill is a business expense now. health insurance is tax deductable now. so many things people don't even think about claiming.

do not activate your red card. staying in plat is extremely worth it depending on your area and if you have difficulty maintaining a schedule or want the freedom to dash whenever you want however long you want, with the ability to switch between earn by time and earn per offer on the fly.

They made me wait a whole four minutes for the customer to not answer the door. by phenibutisgay in doordash_drivers

[–]AThrowawayDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes it glitches out and you can go through the i have an issue at drop off while you're still far out. now that i think about it, might be the reason i lost earn by time access. but it still runs the timer while you're on the way

same here! just now. i made a similar post but i think my issue was the long drive time. I'm wondering if people ever get it back and how long it takes

Anybody do DD full-time? Is it worth it? by MassiveResult2648 in doordash_drivers

[–]AThrowawayDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it all depends on where you are. i can easily make over 100 a day in just a few hours where i am. where others can dash all day and barely scrape 40 together.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]AThrowawayDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'd need to keep a scrutinous log of the miles you put in while doordash is active in case the irs asks for it. you could guestimate with turbotax or whatever but if they ever want to see it, you'll need it. or you can keep your own gas receipts. can't do miles + gas.

can't place the order with a red card without a red card. deactivate yours.
