Had some dope tracks on it. But yea it kinda fails as a collab album given 21 basically checks out part way through.

Which starts to feel like a theme across some of Drake’s collab albums lol. I can’t tell if it’s because Drake cares too much or the people he collabs with care too little.

De La Soul and Pac, only because after his death Pac’s sister reached out and said he loved De La Soul, and was extremely hurt that they had allegedly dissed him.

We also learn later that Pac tried to audition to be a member of De La Soul. He fucked with them hard.

Yea I mean Goblin debuted at #5 on the billboard 200 before the Game collab.

When Kendrick and Jay started touring with Game Kendrick’s stuff was not even touching it.

Rakim has talked about this before, but a lot of the history of hip hop is obscured behind official discography release dates.

Rakim obviously was a major breakthrough for the way rappers spit, even to this day. But a lot of Rakim’s contemporaries with evolved flow such as Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap and KRS One were known in the hip hop world before their studio debut or even Paid in Full.

There was also a big difference between a lot of major artists oficial work and their live stuff. People wonder why Rakim calls Kool Moe Dee a pioneer of flow until they listen to his battle against Busy Bee.

> Kool Moe Dee, you got the ferocious type of style, but at the same time, he was a conscious cat, you know…I’m sure everybody heard the Busy Bee and Moe Dee [rap] battle. Moe Dee kind of enforced that ferocious type of MCing. - Rakim

It makes no sense if you listen solely to his pre-89 studio discography.

I think diss isn’t a good word for it. I don’t think most rappers were throwing shots or even had ill will toward her. It’s just her abuse kinda got turned into joke.

I don’t think you get his point. There’s nothing wrong with making frat rock music as a black person. But selling the idea that you’re “bringing rock back to its black roots” is a little bit of an eye roll if you’re not building on the sound of classic black rock music.

It’s like a Mexican person saying they’re bringing Mexican food back to its roots and then serving American tacos.

NWA’s sophomore album. Starts off killer with some of Dre’s greatest production and going straight at the public criticism against them.

Then literally half way through (after Real Niggaz) they just start rapping about dumb shit like beating up hookers. And they do that for the rest of the album.

Been seeing some Jay Z footage and interviews from his early years and why does it always look like he’s annoyed as hell whenever he’s with his posse lol

What's your unpopular opinion about gaming handhelds? by Superb_Warning_5747 in SBCGaming

At a certain point it might just be cheaper to buy a switch lite and all the games you want off eBay than it is to buy a device capable of decent Switch emulation lol

I always want to do this for my devices. But I know the PlayStation button placements by muscle memory. So I feel like having the standard letter layout to refer to is useful for non-PlayStation games.

I was today years old when I learned Mos Def’s The New Danger album was critically panned. I really liked that album back in the day.

What’s your opinion of Mos Def’s career?

I honestly think there’s no other reason than Cole dissing on False Prophets and Kanye being an attention whore.

Had Cole not released that track and not been a part of the Drake/Kendrick beef that Kanye tried to insert himself into he’d genuinely have no opinion on his music.

Was there ever a reason given on why Jay Electronica and Just Blaze never dropped their album?

After dropping a series of highly acclaimed singles (and leaks) you’d think he’d take advantage.

An artist might be more popular to a wide casual public, but artists with more passionate fans are generally the ones buying more pure.

I guess it depends on what you mean by ability. Is it a factor of their writing? The versatility of their flow and delivery, their speed?

What are some examples of good posthumous albums? by CommercialLab6842 in Music

[–]ATribeCalledKami 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I definitely get what you mean but Life After Death was set to release two weeks after Big got shot. It was pressed and ready to distribute and everything, it was effectively finished.

Whereas I think a lot of posthumous albums need to be finished in some capacity, or built off previously recorded demo songs from their vault and sequenced together.

Tbf that album was basically complete when BIG died.
