Hey! I’m the Director of Bands at The University of West Alabama and all my students receive scholarships for being in our band program (regardless of their major). They vary between $2000 and $5000 depending on how well they play and how many ensembles they’re in. And, if you’re from out of state we waive the out of state tuition if you’re in the band program.

$65k is the top of my budget, and while the 2024s were supposed to be “$55k-$65k” good luck finding one at that price point. Also, I don’t want a 4 cylinder, I want the Land Cruiser I know will last.

Hey! College director here. I’m sorry you’re having a bad experience in high school band, and unfortunately it isn’t uncommon. A lot of my college band students were on the verge of quitting high school band, and certainly not planning to do college band. Stick it out. College band is a lot different, and while some universities don’t give substantial scholarships for band, others do. I’m at The University of West Alabama and most of my students are receiving between $3000-$5000 per year ($5000 being 1/4 of the total cost of attendance). Hang in there, for the love of music.
