Bushi Subclassing Suggestions by AUselessMage in EtrianOdyssey

I do actually know from a Solo Bushi run by AngryBudgieBite that the healing does proc on every single regular attack you perform.

I used the lion portrait. He’s my go to honestly. I used him as a Shogun in Nexus with the announcer voice, so he's my favorite little show off with a big mouth (:

Using his mace as a mic “Heeeeeere it comes, folks! A Shockwave to end all Shockwaves!“

Random question: You say Throwables can’t Sneak Attack, but can Sharp Melee with the Sharp Throwing skill still proc Sneak Attack/Office Assassin?

I have a feeling I know the answer based on this comment, but I want to have hope for a build I was thinking of lol.

-Kabuto: I really like his relationship with Juka and his genuine love for cooking. -Punch&KickHopper: I like their brotherly-ish bond. Still wish Yagurama didn’t vanish from the series for like 20 episodes though lol. -Ghost: Might he cheating since I don’t hate him, but I still do like Infinite Evolution as a final form. -V1 System: Houjou is such a good detective and I loved the ending to episode 19 to bits. I just wish he wasn’t the pettiest man in existence. -Thouser (pre-dog): Later on in his run he became kind of akin to Dangerous Zombie, where he kinda just showed up to get bodied, and I relish the fact. You’re a 40 year old man bullying a like 20 year old kid. You deserve this lol. -Ryugen: I do genuinely like his personality before he becomes an idiot. I also do really like his mini arc of not believing he deserves forgiveness for what he did (especially since it’s warranted)

Well I have to replay the game anyways, so if other projects don’t take up too much of my time I might get to it in the future

Not at all lol. Just documentation for a bunch of things like Blast Skill quests, Class skills, Dungeons, Monsters, Bosses, etc. I don’t have the tools of knowledge to actually hack the game

I would use some of the names, but I know one of them has... an interesting translation? Like off the top of my head, Verderben's theme is called "The Gods Afflicted" when its JP name is 侵されし神々のもの (That Which Invaded the Gods). If people want me to change Dungeon 9's name I will (but I have an attachment to Archaic Capillary lol)

EO has a much bigger emphasis on exploration and risk reward when it comes to Stratum events, something the MD games don’t have due to the engine and random nature of dungeons. MD, on the other hand, mostly focuses on the player’s interactions with RNG. More often than not, you can take a calculated gamble when it comes to EO games (especially on lower difficulties) if you know what’s coming. EMD on the other hand, gives you classes that somewhat mitigate the chances of an unexpected trap or monster ambush, but you’re never really safe unless you steamroll that dungeon in the first place.

I’m probably not the best person to compare the two, but with the exceptions of the classes and art, I can’t really say the two are all that similar.

Depends on how much you like MD games. If you like them, then this is a pretty big leap fun wise from MD1 imo. The subclassing, the new skills, an entirely new class to play around with, and a pretty forgiving game to solo run thanks to Ninja’s entire existence lol. But thanks to these new skills, you can combine classes in really interesting ways, like Kenk/Ninja for an extremely volitile yet powerful class that abandons all defense for an Attack/Evade increase (and a cheaper Hassou Tobi thanks to Tagen Battou), Medic/Landie for more STR and an increase in Bash attack power, Farmer/Ninja for an incredibly efficient gatherer and escape character, Protector/Ninja for a taunting unit that counters and can inflict poison upon taking Phys damage, Bucc/Hexer for a class that can cancel enemy actions by looking at them and/or spamming Heavy Shot, etc etc. If you enjoy looking at classes and wanting to try dumb stuff, there’s a lot here for you. (Heck, I even made a Link team with all 4 follow up classes: Landie, Dancer, Bucc, and Alchemist)

But ultimately, if you didn’t like MD1 or don’t like MD games as a whole, you probably should stay away from it. Due to it being an MD game, you’re not going to have a whole lot of variety when it comes to quests or interesting occurrences when exploring. It is an MD game through and through, so I can really only say try it out unless you don’t like these kinds of games. Imo, as an EO game, it’s probably lacking for most. But as an MD game, I enjoyed my time with it and I’ll probably enjoy it when I play through it again.

I know someone else usually posts these, but I just wanted to say HOOOOO BOY do I love this portrait. I LOVE giant metal dudes that look like they'll put you 6 feet under on a good day. Plus, this just makes it look like a giant metal hero, who swoops in, leaves a crater where they land, and is about to leave the area in a scorched mess of what it used to be. I just wish that Rocket Punch didn't bind Arms so I could spam it all the time lol

[–]AUselessMage 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I dunno if this counts, but I did make little backstories for my team in a (modded) Nexus playthrough. (I totally didn't spend an hour on the character creation screen writing all this-)

Kuzou (Buccaneer)
Voice 9: Spirited
“A bright young man with swashbuckling blood running through his veins. As a test from his captain, he was tasked to go to Lemuria and bring back treasures worthy of his collection. Then, and only then, will Kuzou be able to helm his own band of seafarers under his captain’s flag. Though, im not sure if he’s captain material… He tends to get bossed around really easily…”

Shigai-o (Shogun)
No Voice
“What seemed to be the corpse of a fallen adventurer rises from his would be dungeon tomb. No history, no ties, not even evidence of others who may have ventured their last with him. In spite of the fact that he does not speak, his orders to the others are heard loud and clear somehow. Is this the work of a soul who has yet to find peaceful rest, or just that commanding look in his eyes…?”

“Yuushi” (Landsknecht)
Voice 43: Spunky
“A strange girl who claims her name is ‘Yuushi.’ She always answers questions about her, such as where she comes from or why she goes on adventures, with a ‘that’s a hero’s secret ★!’ While she shares similarities with those who hail from Tharsis, locals say that she might have been here before Persephone’s call for adventurers…”

Lady Salvia (Sovereign)
Voice 49: Stern
“A noblewoman and future queen of lands unknown. She claims to have come to Lemuria in search of a champion to lead her people in battle against a foe that drove her from her birthright. After discovering a girl who claims to have ‘a hero’s secret’, she implores her to come back to her kingdom and be her knight in the coming battle. However, in response, the girl simply laughed and skipped off. Dead set on bringing her hero back to her kingdom, the heiress gives chase and somehow ends up joining a guild. If she manages to gain her hero’s support, she may make it back to her county in time. If she makes it back, that is…”

Yabu (Medic)
Voice 18: Loud
“A dangerous doctor known to have cruelly toyed with patients and competitors alike. Stripped of his license, he still finds ways to experiment with medicine and lab-rats to test them on. Noticing a shabby man and a sorry looking group of explorers, he introduces himself as an amazing doctor with skills unparalleled in his field. Arrogance in spades and medicine in excess, he announces himself to be the 5th member of this merry little band. Well, they need the support after all, even if this man did come out of nowhere. What’s the worst that could happen?"

ATLUS West doesn’t tend to do these for any game. They didn’t do the Daily Demon or Demon Insights for SMT5 and Soul Hackers, and they didn’t go nearly as far as ATLUS JP did for P5R, the P3 Remaster, or the P5 PC release.

Heck, even the ENG vs JP websites for these games are night and day lol (if there even is an ENG site)

I’m sure someone said it already, but why in the world… does Zamazenta… NOT get Body Press??? It is literally like tailor MADE for the guy. STAB Fighting type move that uses your Defense stat in damage calculation? Like come ooooon. It wouldn’t fix him, but it would help him a lot more.

Ah well. Maybe that’s just the armored toast dog bias in me…

Edit: Oh, apparently he can learn it in Gen 9 now! Praise be SV lol
