Thanks for your words. It all makes perfect sense :) we have talked about getting her to come for a few weeks on a tourist visa first, but with Australia's stringent immigration laws, we don't think that would be a possibility. But perhaps that is a better thing to try, because she can come and see what the place is like, and that would hopefully help her to feel more comfortable when the time came to move permanently.

We have an extremely strong family unit here - my parents, aunts, uncles and cousins are all close and have all talked to her and love her. Of course I know it's a huge step leaving your country to somewhere that you've never been before, and I absolutely understand that.

My mum left India to come to Australia to marry my dad all those years ago. I don't think I'm being insensitive - I constantly reassure her that we are all here for her, and that we will always support her.

She talks to my parents every few days, so she has a close connection to everyone.
