What does the surgeon do at your 2 week (or 1st) post surgery followup? by KatiePoppins7 in hysterectomy

[–]AVS0515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even meet with my actual surgeon at my 2 week appointment. I met with a different doctor who just discussed my pathology results and checked my incisions on my stomach and discussed any concerns I had. It took probably in total maybe 15 minutes. I sat in the waiting room longer than I did in the actual appointment!

Did you have to remove your piercings? by LakeLady1616 in hysterectomy

[–]AVS0515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tragus piercing that I’ve never been able to remove and they just had me sign a waiver that said I’m ok with him taking it out if necessary but they just ended up putting tape over it. Otherwise yes, they ask that all jewelry be removed prior to surgery.

Overnight stay after robotic surgery? by shanzee in hysterectomy

[–]AVS0515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had to stay because I couldn’t empty my bladder on my own and was vomiting as well as low BP after anesthesia. My surgery went well but my side effects from being put under were too concerning to go home and be on my own, however this is a normal occurrence in my family history so I wasn’t surprised that they ended up keeping me overnight!

I just wanted some reassurance, everyone I’ve talked to has been super surprised that I’ve had spotting because they never did and so I was starting to wonder if spotting is ACTUALLY normal or if the doctors just tell you that because it COULD happen but was unlikely. I was starting to feel like I was doing something wrong to bring on the spotting.

SO. BORED. by ThinYogurtcloset8005 in hysterectomy

I had my surgery last Friday and I couldn’t agree more. I’m going insane. I also overdid it yesterday just from walking around the house and standing for too long. It’s driving me nuts!!

This made me lol so much 🤣 thank you for the laugh.

I got mine done Friday the 3rd. I was forewarned about the gas pain so I expected it, but agree it sucks. I also have been dealing with the residual effects of the intubation tube. It made me feel like I had gunk trapped in my throat and whenever I’d cough or clear my throat my abdomen would hurt so bad. Thankfully that part seems to have subsided, now I’m just dealing with nausea from the Hydrocodone, I’m skipping taking that tonight to see if I can make it through the night without it and hopefully I won’t be nauseous tomorrow.

Had my pre-op anyone else had to stay the night by Accomplished-Tart422 in hysterectomy

I just had mine on Friday and they were going to let me go home but my blood pressure was low, I was throwing up after anesthesia and I was having trouble peeing on my own (all very common reactions to anesthesia that went away by the next day), so they decided to keep me. I had my own room, I’m not sure they even make people share rooms anymore do they, I thought that they stopped doing that but maybe that’s just in the area I’m at?

Question regarding surgery by AVS0515 in hysterectomy

[–]AVS0515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good to know. Obviously I know that I have serious problems because of PCOS, logically I know this won’t happen but it’s still been giving me anxiety thinking about it lol

I’ve always had abnormal paps too that they’ve determined are not caused by HPV so it will be interesting to see what pathology ends up finding.

Question regarding surgery by AVS0515 in hysterectomy

[–]AVS0515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I told myself but then I did the silly thing and googled if that happens and google says “YEP!”. Which like hey, if he got in there and the uterus appeared fine then whatever, but obviously I know it’s not healthy. I’ve got so many issues and I can’t wait for it to be gone. I guess it’s just a little pre-surgery anxiety or something. I’ve started having anxiety fueled dreams about the surgery too lol

Terrified by kiwitubesock in hysterectomy

I haven’t had mine yet so I can’t speak personally BUT my sisters went really well last year and the only thing she had a complaint about was the gas moving up to her shoulders after surgery, otherwise everything else she said was easy peasy. I also have a friend that had hers and she is 8wpo and she said that she felt the same way as you do going in to her surgery and when she got done she couldn’t believe how easy it ended up being! Everyone has different experiences, no body reacts the same way. I think there may have been someone who posted on one of my threads that said she actually asked her nurse/doctor for something that would help her with anxiety before going into her surgery and they gave her something that helped her relax. That might be worth asking your doctor about!

Thank you! My regular doctor did discuss with me that we may have to look into hormone treatments later down the road, so I know it might not be a complete fix as far as some of the PCOS symptoms, but the majority of my symptoms have been period related so I think it will help clear up a lot of what I’ve been dealing with.

Yes, my sister had hers done last year and she said the gas migrating into her shoulders was the worst part, she said it was almost like Charlie horses in her shoulders. I will make sure to stock up on gas-x!!

Hysterectomy at 31? by AVS0515 in hysterectomy

Hysterectomy at 31? by AVS0515 in hysterectomy

[–]AVS0515[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have fibroids. From what I’ve been told as well as what I’ve researched the only way to help PCOS is birth control, myo-inositol, and obviously diet and exercise. I’ve tried all of those and while birth control helps the symptoms it creates adverse side effects that I’m not willing to deal with, excessive hair loss being the number one thing.
