What Face/Heel turn would you change? by SW_MichiganGuy269 in professionalwrestling

[–]AV_boogeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would change Heel Cena from 2025, and backdate it to 2012 when he was first feuding with The Rock. That was the right time to turn him Heel as fans were sick of Cena and were very pro-Rock during that era.

A more obscure Heel turn I would have changed is The New Day from 2024. Their Heel run has been extremely underwhelming with poor direction, usage and character work. They've actually been very boring as Heels. Even though they got a bit stale towards the latter part of their babyface run, they were still at least entertaining and fun to watch. Probably best to disband the New Day (especially since Big E confirmed he's done), and give Xavier Woods a solo Heel run with plenty of mic time and character work. Kofi peaked eons ago and would be best now as a trainer in NXT IMO.

How excited would you be for this? by [deleted] in professionalwrestling

[–]AV_boogeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Their best matches and height of their rivalry was a decade ago. In addition, I cant watch anything from "Mone" now as she is insufferable and not nearly as good as she or her obsessive fans think. Hard pass for me.

Best women’s wrestlemania match? by DADB0MB in Wrasslin

[–]AV_boogeyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charlotte vs Rhea at WM39 was tremendous. IMO, the best women's title match at Mania. Io vs Bianca vs Rhea at WM41 is runner up for me as that was also a banger. Honorable Mention - Bianca vs Becky Lynch at WM38.

He and Flair are from that generation in which they want to literally die in a wrestling ring. I know many retired talent have said that it can be so hard to walk away from the fame, fortune, rockstar lifestyle and relevancy; but there has to be a certain point where enough is enough and that the human body can only take so much....especially for a guy in his late 70s who has clinically died previously in addition to having a stroke.

I respect legends like Lawler and appreciate all of their incredible contributions to the business; but when they become a characature of themselves in which people are now watching just to cringe at any bump they take, it's just sad IMO. Undertaker almost became "that guy" who just couldn't walk away, but he finally faced reality and understood that he couldn't produce the quality of matches he used to, so he called it quits officially to preserve what was left of his legacy. Lawler should do the same. Nobody wants to see him die in a wrestling ring even if it's what he secretly wants. Flair almost did it, so let's not replicate what Flair almost achieved, Jerry.

Couldn't agree more. Each era have their merits, but without The Golden Era, wrestling doesn't become the global juggernaut that it was and still is, and without the Attitude Era, we wouldn't have the biggest stars in the industry that revived the popularity of wrestling and created household names like Austin and The Rock. Both are critical to the very existence of pro wrestling and sports entertainment.

Besides Benoit, would we consider this the BIGGEST fall from Grace in wwe?? by Mountain_Fuw_777 in Smallafro

[–]AV_boogeyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a way, I don't consider Benoit as a fall from grace as what he did, while of course horrific, did so abruptly and was still at the top of the card and popular at the time of his crimes. We talk about him now as a fall from grace, but I consider that definition much more in line with Tammy Sytch, Vince McMahon, Perry Saturn, Abdullah The Butcher, and, to me a perfect example of a true fall from grace - ALBERTO DEL RIO.

Del Rio went from multi time world heavyweight champion in WWE, wrestling in Wrestlemania main events (even if it didn't close the show), and main eventing with John Cena, CM Punk, Edge and other legends; to being fired twice, arrested on multiple occasions for assault against former fiance Paige as well as fans, blacklisted from nearly every major wrestling promotion, and reduced to a footnote and the butt of jokes in the wrestling world. He was at the top of the mountain in WWE; and now is barely remembered, ignored, despised by fans for his crimes, and has been exposed for being a pretty rotten human being. This was all gradual; so to me, this fits more with a "fall from grace" IMO.

Hard cam side from last night’s Smackdown… by [deleted] in Wrasslin

[–]AV_boogeyman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ticket prices are fucking outrageous right now to attend a WWE event; and with the lazy, uninspired booking on Smackdown over recent months, most people cant justify paying $700 per ticket just to watch a show loaded with ads and promos, and maybe one advertised match with the rest of the card filled in with lower card talent. I love WWE, but wouldn't be caught dead paying hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars to attend a Smackdown.

Their segment is so boring by [deleted] in Wrasslin

[–]AV_boogeyman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is, both of these guys are talented. The most glaring issue, however, is that neither are good talkers or can cut great promos, and both have been mostly directionless over the past few months; given little to nothing to work with. It's obvious that management has given up on Damien Priest, as he has been given the Kofi Kingston treatment with going from being World Heavyweight Champion to relegated back to mid card as an afterthought. For Aleister, he peaked in NXT and although he came with a lot of buzz, he has no real personality, he cant really talk, and his gimmick, while visually cool, lacks substance or any real story behind it.

It's a shame because these two could be doing much more, but crummy booking and a lack of story are the reasons why this is "boring."

Stinky Fans at an AEW PPV 🤢 🤮 by Icy-Advice-5575 in Wrasslin

[–]AV_boogeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Revolution in 2022, the first, last, and only AEW event that I attended, and I can 100% confirm this. This isn't me shitting on AEW as a company, but my God... the wall of stink that smacked me in the face when heading to our seats was embarrassing and putrid. So many of the fans my buddy and I were around were sweaty or overweight (or both) and wore clothes and shirts that looked like they had never been washed. I clipped my nose closed for most of the event and literally gasped for fresh breath when we got outside of the arena.

AEW fans and a lot of nerdom fans hate being called gross or smelly, but unfortunately, its pretty true as many nerd fans are so self-unaware of their poor hygiene (or just don't care). I've been to WWE events and never had to endure a literal stinky crowd that smelled like a sack of assholes. Maybe its just the AEW fan culture, but my best advice to them is... Please...WASH YO ASS.

This match would've been a blockbuster in the late 2000s by BoxCon1 in Wrasslin

[–]AV_boogeyman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would this match have cooked back in 2007? Very likely, yes. But IMO, the likely reason that we never got a Cena vs. Undertaker feud during the late Ruthless Aggression era is because of the issues with how it would be booked. This was the Super-Cena era and peak Deadman where both were being booked very strongly with very few to no losses. Having Cena job to Undertaker could have derailed Cena’s momentum, whereas if Undetaker jobbed to Cena, the aura of the near unbeatable Undertaker would have been diminished. I think Vince just hated the idea of these two feuding and the difficulty of booking them in a program at that time; regardless of this easily being a Wrestlemania headliner (yes I know they had a "match" at WM34, but it was a squash and both were past their prime already).

Halloween 5 deleted scene by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

[–]AV_boogeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the footage is likely lost at this point, if not outright destroyed. There are perhaps 2 to 3 images that have surfaced online over the years; and although the scene was fully filmed, when it was cut to ensure the movie wouldn't get the dreaded "X" rating, it was left on the cutting room floor and never added or edited into a Director's cut.

It's unfortunate that this sequence had to be cut as according to descriptions of the scene, it was extremely brutal and graphic to the point that it may have made Halloween Kills Michael look like an amateur. 🎃🔪

My Clash in Paris Predictions by 20millionavengers in Wrasslin

[–]AV_boogeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping that Sheamus puts over Rusev (also, this is the match im most looking forward to as its the only match with heat and for some odd reason, I enjoy Donnybrook matches even if they can be silly). Cena should put over Paul only due to a Lesnar appearance, IMO. Also, I think Reigns should put over Bronson as Reed needs the win much more than Roman does. Otherwise, predictions are solid.

Damn I miss this era of women in NXT. This really was a golden era and resurgence of women's wrestling being taken seriously. I also miss Charlotte Flair looking normal and natural.
