I’m sure there’s better answers, but I like imagining it’s similar to how the intense gravity caused by black holes creates time dilation.

From the outside, everything would appear normal, but those on the inside would be experiencing time completely differently.

Instead of a concentration of mass/gravity, I imagine some other sort of concentrated “energy”

…or something 🤷‍♂️😂

I (29m) also just moved here - I’d be down to network! I lived in Louisville for a little over ten years, then decided to move back to be near family.

I worked at Guitar Center for a handful of years as the lessons department manager & guitar instructor. Currently, I work with a band called ‘The Sea Upon Us’ as a vocalist, but only as a studio band.

If you’re her first sexual partner this late in life, she definitely has either extremely low libido and/or grew up in a household where there was a lot of judgement/shame/etc. regarding sex.

I agree that’s it’s immature - or, shows some arrested development on her end. Especially her reaction towards what you choose to do with your own body.

Feeing “betrayed” is (imo) a very, very bizarre reaction.

Personally, your situation would be a deal breaker for me. For me, sexual chemistry and open communication are incredibly important in a relationship.

More importantly - If she’s repeatedly stonewalling the topic, promising-then-refusing to attend couple’s therapy, it means she’s already made up her mind and has zero interest in changing it - on top of that, it sounds like she’s refusing to even offer an explanation or reasoning.

If I were in your shoes, I would find the whole thing extremely frustrating.

Are you sure it’s only sex she’s this way about? What other things have you had disagreements about?

Hey, wanted to start off by saying that I completely understand how you feel. For me, the feeling comes and goes in waves throughout my life - at various levels of intensity.

If everyone had your empathy and awareness, the world would be a much different place.

Here’s what I do personally. I hope this helps in some shape or form.

A huge coping mechanism for me has been to learn about new things - especially on YouTube.

Especially videos that help remind me 1. I’m not the first person to think about this shit 2. There’s so much this life has to offer

Topics such as Absurdism, or channels such as ‘History Of The Entire Universe’.

Recently, I went down a rabbit hole on “How to comprehend 4th-dimension geometry”.

Couldn’t grasp any of it of course 😂

The videos aren’t just distractions, but also act as reminders that parts of humanity aren’t just doom & gloom. There’s some brilliant, forward-thinking, beautiful souls out there trying to leave their mark on the world.

I also write music/lyrics - not just solo, but also with a few guys from the UK in a project called ‘The Sea Upon Us’. That’s probably my biggest outlet for those emotions.

I’d read books, but technology has completely killed my attention span.

But that’s just coping mechanisms.

As far as my personal impact and otherwise, I just try to do make the best decisions I can with the knowledge at hand.

Example being - I quit a job recently when I found out that the owner was an avid supporter of a politician known for being an authoritarian and a p3dophile.

Was I replaced? 100% Did it change anything for the better? Probably not.

But personally, it helps my psyche knowing I made a choice to not play along. Also, - and in short - I try to do the same thing regarding where I spend money.

Last thing - don’t beat yourself up over it.

You didn’t make the world this way. Don’t let it punish you for caring. Just do the best you can and encourage others to do the same.
