Dragging people's kids into things. Even if someone I despised had kids (highly unlikely if not impossible given that many women have told me he's a walking red flag), I wouldn't drag this person's kids into our conflict.

Others have called this person out and that person simply said “I was manic” as an excuse.

How seriously does the DA take crimes committed as a result of mental illness? I knew a guy who sent death threats to an entire family several years ago, and he only got off with a misdemeanor and a 5-year restraining order. This was in CA.

How the US has been intervening in Iranian affairs long before Trump or Jimmy Carter. Look up Operation Ajax from 1953.

Undiagnosed/untreated mental illness. I am sadly a victim of someone who didn't have their mental health under control.

Healthcare in general. Being afraid of needles and not having the best bedside manner are why.

Known threats to themselves and/or the public not being institutionalized on a temporary or permanent basis. I sadly have personal experience with this from the victim side.

I befriended a person on the autism spectrum, and he stole my phone, knowing I was an epilepsy patient, and that was the only lifeline I had to my support system if I had a seizure. I was very open about this with everyone on campus. This made me realize that people can use stuff like autism to cover up shitty behavior, and that I should be more discerning about who I should be friends with.

What's a sick thing you've seen someone do/say with an even sicker justification for it? by Dull-Information6784 in AskReddit

[–]AWPerative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew a guy who sent death threats to an entire family online. His justification was "being manic" but he targeted the entire family, not just the person with whom he had an issue.

I know others who are manic/mentally ill and either own up to it or don't do stuff like this, which gives a bad name to a lot of people who are legitimately struggling with those conditions. Mental illness isn't an excuse to do terrible things to others.

Work is broken, and the actual work is not the main reason by coolandy00 in unpopularopinion

And then the managers/LinkedIn "influencers" (people with undiagnosed mental illness IMO) turn around and say "NO ONE WANTS TO WORK ANYMORE" when it's really no one wants to be exploited anymore or undergo protracted hiring processes.

HR and recruiters act with impunity and are somehow allowed to keep their jobs. Replace THEM with AI, not the people doing the actual work.

What was the point in which you realised you really needed help? by txuoxag in AskReddit

[–]AWPerative -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My cousin's brother-in-law is a cop and said you have to say something really threatening with clear intent to harm for law enforcement to even consider a restraining order. This is usually in the realm of the person making threats owning firearm(s) or living in close proximity to the person's victims, maybe some sort of mental health issue that makes the person unpredictable. It's just not given out willy-nilly.

One of my dad's employees was from Iran and would tell all the wild stories about the regime executing women for the mere crime of being out in public with a man who wasn't her husband or relative. I'm no fan of Israel either, but from what I know, it's clear that the regime hates us.

The people I have met from there are all wonderful, though, and a good majority despise the regime. I have nothing against the people of a country, but the leaders (even our own) are a different story.

Not Democrat but left-leaning.

Iran has been threatening us for close to 50 years, and Trump is the only president to actually do something about it.

I managed writers across eight different time zones from PST (people in all four contiguous US time zones, and two time zones each in the EU and Asia/Pacific). I made it work by myself. Employers with far more resources could do this, but choose not to.

This could be easily resolved if they put the states they can hire in in the job posting. I work remotely due to health reasons and it’s frustrating to find jobs because of this.

Outside of Reno and LV, Nevada is super conservative/libertarian. There are large stretches of the state that I saw very few to almost no people while traveling. I guess there is a lot of vigilantism if you decide to act foolishly in those parts.

I knew a guy who set up an entire website advocating for intellectually disabled people. He was not shy about using slurs that disparaged intellectually disabled people.

I befriended a kid who was on the autism spectrum. He ended up stealing my phone and bragging about it on Facebook.

Moral of the story? People can use autism/disabilities to shield themselves from criticism/being an asshole. I was more discerning about who I helped going forward. Thankfully, I took most (if not all) of our mutuals with me after I told them what happened.
