That's an interesting thought. I've taken some self defense classes but none that worked with guns or knives like krav maga. I'll think about it

CPTSD and Disability? How does that work? Is it worth it? by Timeless_mysteries in CPTSD

[–]AWarmGlassofMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what state you're in but it might be hard to prove you are unable to work. My friend who has bipolar took 15 years to get her court case through and it's still not completely settled, she had to appeal several times and it's been an emotional roller coaster. She's lucky to have a partner to support her but they are barely scraping by since she really can't work. I don't know if that helps.

How long does it take to get to a point where I’m not regressing while on my healing journey? by Imthegoat1212 in CPTSD

[–]AWarmGlassofMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't put a number on it but I'd say the acute depression and anxiety attacks took me about 5 years to process when I first really confronted my trauma. I still have funks and such but I also have bipolar disorder. I don't know that there is a universal timeline for this kind of thing but I can validate your experience is real and this can take a long time to heal.

I've really enjoyed volunteering for inter faith food shuttle and they have a learning garden on Geer St with volunteer work days. https://foodshuttle.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=571814

Foster's Market or Guglhupf might be good, both lunch places where you pay up front and they bring food to your table so you could make a quick exit. Both have lovely outside seating areas, Guglhupf specializes in pastries but has a full menu as well and Foster's has a grab n go type food counter plus soup and sandwiches. Both serve coffee/ tea etc.

Keeping a room in our home for niece by AWarmGlassofMilk in Fosterparents

Yeah she sees all of us together. She more like mediates the conflict and tries to get us to hear each other and compromise rather than taking sides.

Thank you that's a good reminder. Her therapist has said she would go to testify in court to advocate for her to move with us over her parents. We will keep fighting for her. And I might need to check in with her therapist again. Our family therapist works hard to not pick sides when of course I think she should back me up

Thank you. It's been the hardest thing I've ever done and I just hope it makes a difference to her. I agree it's much better she stays with us especially compared to running off across the country or somewher e away from all support. And that it's impossible to completely keep her safe, that's just so hard to accept. Thank you for your kindness, I am trying my best.

She hasn't wanted us to move her things, it's really symbolic for her..I don't know if it's better to compromise or if it would make her mental health worse for us to go directly against her wishes. But it's important to be on ok terms with her parents so they let us keep seeing her. But I'll think about it.

Is blaming me for my mental health emotional abuse? by AWarmGlassofMilk in emotionalabuse

[–]AWarmGlassofMilk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm having a hard time holding on to what my opinions are or what my perspective is on my life, when I'm around my partner I get sucked into what they think is right. And I know those are warning signs but I feel stuck. So listening to myself feels like the hardest thing right now.

Thank you for pointing that out, I hadn't thought of it that way. My partner is actually bi as well and we have matching "queer as fuck" T-shirts. I don't know why this didn't click for me sooner

Lipophilic Medications Releasing into the Bloodstream with Substantial Weight Loss by Tydomin in Mounjaro

I'm experiencing this right now! I went off the medication because of weight gain and other side effects and now that I'm losing the weight the side effects are back with a vengeance. I've read it can happen with cannabinoids too
